I am the MOH for a wedding this year. The bachelorette party is supposed to be taking place on a cruise that sets sail in 8 days. I have told the bride my reservations for potentially not going, and she is understandably upset. Unfortunately though, she still wants to go, and is making me feel incredibly guilty for not. Using words like " I can't believe when my MOH would bail on my once in a lifetime bachelorette party for a big what if" Now please keep in mind, I am the one that has planned this entire cruise, and I am the last person that wants this to be cancelled or rescheduled. I am just trying to make the most logical decision based on the information that has arose.

Am I wrong for not wanting to go a cruise that could potentially infect vulnerable or susceptible people, and/or being quarantined on a boat for 14+ days?

Brides, and other Bridal members what is your opinion? I am genuinely upset that she would even put me in a position like the and make me feel so bad.

    Y'all..honestly?

This will be the SAFEST time to cruise!! There will be so few people on the ship and they will be heavily disinfecting everything onboard. They are scanning all passengers and anyone with even a slight fever is not allowed to board. I have several friends who have taken cruises over the past couple of weeks with NO ISSUES. They all said the ships are constantly cleaned and sanitized and people who exhibit signs of illness are examined immediately. I would still go and have a great time. Lysol and wipe down your cabin (we do this everytime anyway) and wash your hands before eating anything.

Cruises would be a bit NOPE from me right now. I certainly wouldn't get on one knowing that you might not be able to get off. Bride needs to think about someone other than herself.

I think it’s less about getting sick and more about possibly getting quarantined on board, not being able to dock in different cities, or losing wages if you have to self quarantine for two weeks when you get home.

Your advice is terribly misguided. Cruises pose a special risk, both to those on board and those they encounter after disembarking. The chance of being quarantined is FAR greater than the chance of getting sick and the financial impacts of a quarantine are not to be dismissed lightly.

Several cruise lines are suspending all their cruises for the next two months so this might have worked itself out depending on the cruise line you had booked.

Perhaps you are too young to have ever been quarantined because you are sick, or while others are sick and you are healthy. Or know anyone who has. Or who has ever spent 5 days in a stadium with 1 meal a day, not enough water for showers, while waiting out a flood. Because I have been quarantined. And when more we're sick than the infirmary could hold, lived with 3 people in a double room who started with vomiting then " just" diarrhea. Not enough staff to keep the place clean. All bars and extras closed. 2 small basic one choice meals a day, because staff get sick too. Then, because I had used my vacation time except the scheduled days for the trip, I lost 10 days pay. If happy go lucky you cannot take something like that and see it is more than missing a party is worth, you are something I will not say on Wedding Wire. Likely, none of us have a high opinion of anyone who would take such risks with other people.

Frankly it’s the bottom line of I have no choice but to travel with the public for a living and see no risk in any other form of travel. If I worked in an office I would be concerned also. I’ve lived and traveled through SARS/H1N1/Measles/Y2K and more. All I’m saying is this is way over blown.

I think shes very selfish for expecting people to still go.

Hasnt she thought that you could get stuck on there for 2 weeks meaning people cant work or pay bills and also people may bring it back to elderly loved one and it could potentially kill them!

I personally wouldn't be going on a cruise now.

I've been on 3 cruises since they returned in 2021. Fully vaccinated (and twice boosted) and still loving and living for cruise vacations. We have 3 more booked over the next 12 months...so...yeah cruising is fine.
