Bachelorette party with a minor

Brittany, on February 21, 2018 at 11:26 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 14
Hey guys! So I’m trying to come up with ideas for my bachelorette party... my friends and I are big drinkers, but my future sister in law is only 17. I thought about going to some local breweries since she can go there, but I want to make sure everyone is having a good time! What have you guys done/heard about?

I went to a bachelorette party with an underage sister and we all went out to dinner and went to see Blue Man Group. Then her sister and mom went home and we went out to a bar in the city. You could do something like a show or Escape the Room. I wouldn't think a 17 year old would have fun at a brewery even if she is allowed in. A spa day could be another thing you could do with her and then go out drinking with your friends afterwards.

Honestly, I think the breweries would be your best bet if you definitely want to include her. If it was me, I would do something separate with her (spa day, shopping, lunch) and do the party-party with the 21+ crowd. Or start at the brewery and then continue the party with the 21+ elsewhere.

You could charter a boat if you are near water, I'm sure the rules differ by company but I don't think many would have a problem with you drinking as long as the 17 yo isn't.

How about a spa day? I know some areas offer wine while you relax and then afterwards go to a brewery if that's what you want to do?

What about a sip and paint class? Those are fun for everyone and you can still drink. My MOH planned a sip and paint, dinner and bars for mine so that people could pick and chose what they wanted to participate in.

My MOH is my 13 year old daughter. I told all my girls that whatever they planned needed to include her for at least the early part of the evening. I'll find out this weekend what they've planned lol. I would assume something like an escape room or dinner and a show, then she'll go home with my mom and my girls and I will start the adults only party 😂🍸🍹🥂🍷🍾

What’s the length you’re looking at for the party? I planned a weekend bach party where the bride’s sister/MOH was 18. We did a wine tour one day and a beach day the other. Saturday night we had dinner and drinks at the house, then went out to a bar. The sister stayed home for that, obviously, but she was able to come to everything else. I checked with the bride before planning this and she was happy with it since she wanted a night out.

Could you split up the day/weekend like that? I’d worry she’d be bored at a brewery, but it’s a good idea if you want everyone together. Spa days get really expensive, I can’t imagine a 17-year-old being able to afford it.

That’s my concern is her having a good time! We definitely could do dinner somewhere and then she heads home while we drink. I also thought that maybe doing dinner out and then a house party. We did that for my sister since 2 of her BM were pregnant!

Oh a charter boat would be fun! We’re near the Ohio river, so that’s actually something we could do!

I’m worried about splitting time or carrying it out for a weekend only because I feel like it might inconvenience people. One of my BM works weekends and odd hours. I have thought about doing dinner out and then seeing about doing a house party to include her!

Haha perfect! Yes, I love my future sister in law so I definitely want to make sure she’s included, even if it means getting creative!

    A brewery isn't appropriate for a 17 Y O. What will she do there?

Spa day, mani/ pedis, beach day (obviously will depend on your location/ proximity to the beach and time of year), rock and bowl, broadway type of show, fancy dinner.

Well, the breweries near us are super family friendly. There’s board games, corn hole, and games/things in general for everyone to have stuff to do.
