Bachelorette party?

Megan, on May 30, 2019 at 5:44 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 19
Living in upstate NY there isn’t much to do. In need of Bachelorette party ideas that don’t involve going out to bars? ☹️ Help!

I'm doing kind of an adult sleepover weekend. We will watch movies with popcorn and snacks. My girls wanted to do games and I wanted a pinata. We have a pool to hang out by during the day (100+ degree weather in Palm Springs in August). And we are planning on going to a nice dinner and possibly cosmic bowling. We aren't huge fans of the bar scene so we will just have drinks at home by the pool.

We are having a camping weekend! There are so many beautiful places to camp or glamp in NY. Lake sports, hiking, horseback riding and yoga with lots of campfire drinking.

I grew up upstate so I definitely can understand your pain! My wedding will be upstate in August.
I'm not really sure what my plans for my bachelorette party. My fiance and I may do something together with our wedding party. Bowling, rollerskating, a pool party, or hanging out in our hotel room may be our only options. Smh so sad.
What kind of activities are you interested in? Are you looking to do something for one day or the whole weekend?
You can have spa day, paint and sip, visit Saratoga/Lake George (I'm not sure exactly where you are), or have a girls night in.

Someone who understands the pain of upstate NY! 😂 I just feel like there isn’t much to do. My bachelorette party will be in May so weather will
obviously still be iffy. I’ve looked at lake George but again with the weather it might not be too nice. We thought about doing a baseball game with the groomsmen and future hubby but after tickets, transportation, etc - that can get pricey too. 🤷🏼‍♀️ We will see!!! Thank you for your response!!

Are you avoiding alcohol or just the standard “go out to bars” party?

If you guys like baseball, you could go out to Cooperstown for the day. They have the hall of fame for guys if they want, I’m sure they have spas, there’s the lake, and if you are okay with drinking, ommegang is an amazing brewery that does tours and has really good food.

Rent a cabin, treehouse, or maybe even a yurt! Have a bonfire 🔥 enjoy the outdoors, maybe a hike if you’re up for it?

I'm also in upstate NY! When my sister got married, we rented a house in Old Forge, and took an extra drive to The Wild in Tupper Lake. It was basically a super fun and low-key girl's weekend!

I think if you want to go cheap it would be easiest to do something stay at home. A spa day/weekend would be so fun! There are so many things you can order off Amazon (bubble masks!) or get at a drug store for pretty cheap. Maybe have some yummy snacks like fruit salads and finger sandwiches. Then you could grab some great wine or find a couple tasty cocktails and cook an awesome dinner. Have a great playlist to accompany the fun and then find a good show/movie on Netflix or a cozy bonfire with roasting marshmallows. Hopefully this helps! I don't know too much about upstate NY.

Agree on the skipping the bars bit!!

Rent a cabin/AirBnB for the weekend!! We just did this for Memorial Day weekend with about 12 people and including food, drinks, lodging and winery day it was only $195 per person. I'm not sure what you are looking to do or if you're trying avoid alcohol, but there are a lots of ideas already posted that sound like fun. Spa day, baseball game, lake time, wineries, etc.

An air bnb with a nice pool. Have an at-home spa night there. Or aren't there like short little cruises in NY? Have dinner and drinks on a boat.

For my bachelorette we went off the beaten path and went on a horseback riding trail and then to a virtual reality gaming experience. i had a blast. i wanted to do something different and have a new adventure with everyone. no one else in my party had ever gone horseback riding like that so it was a new memory we all shared together. is there anything none of you guys have done before that would be interesting to do together?

Paint and sip class? Yoga class? Fishing, camping, hiking? Spa day? DIY spa night at home? Movie night at home? Paintball? Axe throwing? Bowling? Cooking class? Volunteer at a dog shelter? Go to one of the nicer movie theaters that serve alcohol/dinner? See a play?
