Bachelorette Trip?

Is anyone planning to have a bachelorette trip? I am thinking about going to Aruba with my bridal party, my MIL thinks that it’s a bad idea and we should stay local. Thoughts?

So many great points on this forum. In all honesty, if you was in your bridal party, I wouldn’t go. June is being very optimistic of things being under control but the bigger issue is the cost.

As a furloughed airline attendant and traveler I can tell you that island travel MIGHT be back to normal by then however, flights will be limited and hotels will also have a capacity maximum. I would plan on something closer to home if you want to make any sort of actual plans, I just do not see Covid being under control by June and while it might be better than it is currently it will not be back to "normal".

I understand what you are saying.

It’s not that difficult to get to Aruba from Miami, the flight is 2 1/2 hours and the plane tickets and lodging are around $400(all in) for the 8 of us.
They are the one that brought up the idea, generally they are paying around $400 to be in the wedding, but all the other costs affiliated with their involvement my FH and I are handling.
My only concern is Covid, and if this really even makes sense to do during this time.
Thanks for your input. Smiley smile

Out of 9, 8 are down to go, my SIL HATES traveling so she’s sitting out.

But no one has an issue with the cost, and honestly the only reason I’m considering international is because of the suggestions I have received from them.

Yes, we have been looking at flights and there seems to be a lot of options from Miami.

& we will be staying in an air bnb. I know life is not going to be back to normal for a while, but I was just hoping to do a nice girls trip with my best girls. Smiley smile

We originally were planning to go to Atlantic City back in June for a Co Bachelor/Bachelorette trio but Covid ruined it. I don't see a problem with out of state trips but I personally wouldn't do an out of country one probably.

    That sounds like fun!

Because we live in Miami it’s so easy to get everywhere that it doesn’t even seem like an international trip, we fly to Bahamas all the time just for the weekend because it’s literally a 45 min flight, or catch a boat there.
So for me it seems like I simple 1,2,3; but I can understand for others how it may seem like a lot.
I will wait it out until March to decide what we will do in terms of a trip and if things are still horrible, I will look into Key West as an option.

I agree with other re: cost, time and covid. 8 or 9 people is a lot for Covid to spend an entire weekend together and staying in the same location (sleeping in the same rooms, being inside for hours at a time, etc). At a minimum, everyone needs to be tested before traveling. (And testing does not guarantee someone will be negative for the weekend) I would be very uncomfortable exposing myself to that number of people for three days. B/c if anyone has it, you will all get it. DH and I have traveled twice since March and stayed with another couple each time. We got tested each time, and it felt risky and we were only staying with 2 other people. As others have mentioned, I am generally not in favor of grand bachelorette trips. Based on my experience with these events, usually 4-5 people are very on board and the rest feel pressured to agree. Also, folks usually express enthusiasm in the early stages and then when it comes time to book, back out. I would personally talk to each person individually and reduce the group to 4-5 for anything involving staying with each other overnight.

You keep saying all of your friends have the money and vacation time to spend and want to go, so I am not really sure why you posted asking for advice. But since you did, I am going to agree with everyone else and say that this plan is too much and too risky for a bachelorette party next summer. So many people in the midst of planning weddings right now are stressing because COVID is still very much a thing, even if they felt optimistic when they moved their dates from earlier in the year. No one can be certain what June will look like. Why invite that kind of stress into your life for an optional party?

I would 100% decline if I were invited, based on my budget (both in terms of money and vacation time; not everyone gets the same holidays off) and my current risk aversion toward traveling.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Although everyone has the money and wants to go; that doesn’t mean that we should.
The whole point of asking for advice is to get feedback from people that have a different view point of view.

Yes I love going to Bahamas from Miami, so quick. But the only reason I said I wouldn't go out the country is because of Covid, I should've specified that. Even though it's only a 45 minute flight from Miami, I personally still wouldn't do it no time soon. I guess it also depends on when you're planning it too

My bridal party and I are planning a trip for my 31st birthday in July. We wanted to come to Miami and have a repeat of my 30th birthday this year where my fiance rented out a huge airbnb, invited close friends, and we stayed in with drinks, food, games and returned back safely.

It was their idea for the trip so expenses and stuff aren't an issue, we're just looking at how things will play out by July. I say stay positive about it, be mindful & vigilant, and make sure you have a plan A & B in case things don't work out.

Thank You for explaining some of your view of it although you didn't have to. At the end of the day, it is you and your bridal party's decision and I'm sure you'll make the choices you think are best for you. Happy Planning & sending optimism for you Smiley smile

    Sounds like so much fun!

Thank you for that. I’ve had to cancel all the wedding events so it’s been discouraging!

Honey you are not alone. It helps me to plan things even if I can't possibly know how things are going to play out. Here's to keeping the positivity going! We got this!
