Bachelorette weekend (timing)

Priscilla, on November 12, 2019 at 11:37 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 15
My wedding is October next year. When’s the best time to have the bachelorette party? My Matron of Honor is thinking the weekend before. Is that a good idea?? Or will I be swamped the weekend prior to our wedding?? We have most things already booked—but I’m just curious what folks thoughts are.

My bachelorette party was about 6 weeks before my wedding, but it easily could have been the weekend before. We had nothing going on the weekend before.

Whether or not you're busy that weekend depends on how well you prepare over the next 11 months. My wedding is next weekend and, even though I feel prepared, I can't imagine having my bachelorette party this weekend. I'd rather tie up loose ends and just relax with my FW before the chaos of next week. I would prefer sometime within a month or two of the wedding.

My Bach party is July 10th for my August 8th wedding.. in the words of my bridesmaid “that way if you get any bruises they’ll heal before the wedding”. Not 100% sure what they have planned (female fight club??). There will be lots of drinking and I’m sure shenanigans so if you’re planning on that as well I would push it out a little bit.

Mine is May 16 for a June 27 wedding. I have 2 bridesmaids (1 is my MOH) traveling quite a distance for the wedding and all pre-wedding activities. My mom is flying them in for Bridal shower but they are paying their own way to wedding and bachelorette. So my primary goal was to give them more than a month between each visit.

I probably wouldn't have your bachelorette party the weekend before. You'll either be running around trying to handle last-minute preparations for the wedding, or if you're good to go and don't have wedding tasks that weekend then you may just want to relax with your FS. Maybe sometime in September or earlier in the summer? (If it helps at all, we're looking at June or July for my bachelorette with my wedding in September, but all the attendees are spread across the country and I wanted to give people a lot of time between the two trips.)

My wedding is 10/10/20. We're doing Labor Day weekend so we have an extra day because everyone is already off anyway!

I am doing mine a month before! I didn't want it too close to the wedding.

I'm also planning my bachelorette for Memorial Day weekend, and wedding is June 27th. Bach party is in a location where everyone needs to travel, and half of us have kids. I casually asked around to make sure that weekend wasn't a big family weekend for anyone, and every body seemed ok with it. Also told everyone that there was no pressure to stay all 3 nights. Did you get any resistance for planning it over MDW or the cost of 3 nights?

We’re traveling to southwest Michigan and surprisingly only one girl had an issue with it, so she decided to just not come. We’re only going for 2 nights so that helped keep the cost down a little bit. I chose that weekend because we’re getting married on a Friday and some of the girls already have to take off 1-2 days and I didn’t want to have to use any more of their vaca days
