I was going to write out all the details of the day and all of the hiccups leading up to it, but I decided that right now, I'd rather just savor everything I loved about it instead. I'll save the full breakdown for another day, but for a brief summary: we got married in Maui at the White Orchid Beach House on 5/2/2019. It rained (a lot), but the sun came out just in time for a beautiful sunset. The day was beautiful, romantic, and certainly memorable, but definitely different than what I pictured! But at the end of the day, I'm (finally) happily married to the love of my life. We just got our photos and video back, so I hope it's not taboo to share both in the same post!

Omg omg omg Christy your wedding was beautiful and your videographer was amazing I honestly felt like I was there with you guys while watching it! Everything looks so romantic and fun! Loved the group Hula dancing and the speeches I could honestly feel the love from your friends and family! Congrats and I wish you the best on your Marriage!

Gee all of the details for your wedding! Really, really special and gorgeous. Looks like everyone had a great time. That location was perfect. Forget the rain! It think that first picture of you and your DH standing with the rocks says it all, right? Despite all of the hiccups and "rockiness" leading up to the wedding day, look at that beautiful ending! Congrats.

Awww thank you everyone for the kind words! Yes, it turned out to be a beautiful day, and I honestly wouldn't change it at all (though I've considered bringing my dress back on our first anniversary to take more photos in the sunshine because why not?). We're both really into photography, so photo, video, and location were the top priorities for us (after getting married, of course). I'm really thrilled with how they came out!
To be honest, I had secretly kind of hoped it would rain (a little) on the day of - just enough to provide some cloud cover and one of Hawaii's famous rainbows. Everyone kept checking in and asking if I was ok, and it was kind of like an out of body experience - I wasn't sad or upset. It just was how the weather was going to be. And honestly, clouds not only kept my husband cool (and he tends to sweat easily - I had been worried about how he would do in the Hawaiian sun), but they make for beautiful soft light for photos - no harsh shadows, no squinting. And rain is romantic as heck - I mean I feel like all the classic movies have some epic kiss in the rain!
I feel a little silly offering, but if anyone wants to see more photos, I am more than happy to post them! And I do have an iPhone video of the first dance if anyone wants to see it (the videographer is mailing all of the raw footage from the day, but I don't have that yet). We had a lot of fun learning to dance together (for me, learning to dance at all), and are talking about continuing lessons now that we're back home.
