Back of invitation with welcome party invite and timeline

Kaye, on June 19, 2018 at 9:46 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14

Is it weird to include details for a welcome party on the back of your wedding invites? It seemed nice to not have to make up another invitation. It will be a drop in welcome party, but I am wanting people to RSVP so I know how much food/drink to have.

I also had a friend who included the timeline on her invitation. However, her invitations were very casual but cute. Our invitations are a bit more formal and classic although I am not going to have engraved invitations. Is it nice to let people know that you're planning to have them on their way home at a decent hour (4:15 pm) or is that tacky? I guess I would just assume a timeline if I were a guest normally.

I wouldn't do an official invitation but I wouldn't put it on the back either. I think then it leads to confusion and people might miss it if they never turn the invite over.

I think doing a separate informational card insert should be appropriate. With just a couple of lines "A Welcome party will be held on XXX Date at XXX time, please feel free to drop in, and then the location listed

An informational card would be great! But I personally wouldn't print it on my invitation

Agreed with others! Usually you want the invites to be short and to the point so it doesn't become too much to read or too overwhelming.

I would suggest doing an insert and not printing the info on your invitation.

I saved all that information for the website and kept the invitation very simple.

We aren’t doing a timeline, but I actually like your idea of using the back of the invite! Something for me to consider!

I agree, an insert card seem to be the best option for your formal invitation.

I would not add a timeline there. Do it on your website or have a program printed out the day of your wedding.

A separate card for sure! All of that on one invite may be a little overwhelming. Also it may take away from the “formal/classic” look of your invites. We also put that information on our website..I’m not sure if you have one.

I was thinking about putting information on the back of our invitation (guests have to meet someone at our venue at a different location from the venue and then be escorted over... it's weird) but we are opting to just put it on a separate insert ... it looked weird on the back

I wanted to save money, so I put my Welcome Party invite on the back of my invitation and also on my website. I always look at both sides of an invitation so I didn't think it would be an issue and if they didn't look at the back or the website then I was okay if they don't end up showing up.

I don't think it's weird. If I received the invite, I'd be happy I got the information for the welcome party in advance too! I don't think timelines are necessary. If you want to at your wedding, you could make a cute sign with a timeline for people?

We included it on our invites because a lot of our guests are from out of town so I wanted them to know about the Sunday event in advance and for our reception we need to have everyone and everything taken down by 11 so I wanted to be clear on the end of the reception time. I didn’t include the rehearsal which will have a separate invite or after party that will be word of mouth.

I just posted the welcome party on our wedding website...we're ordering pizza at a local winery in Cleveland so I think it should be fine. I hadn't even thought about ppl RSVPing for it! Hmmm...
