Backyard wedding weather fears

Caitlin, on April 12, 2021 at 4:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
Hi! We are planning on getting married October 9th, 2021 in our backyard. We are expecting around 100 people, we have 11 acres so more than enough space however I just looked in the Farmers Almanac to see it is forecasted to be colder with more rain than normal October 6th-11th. Our house is not big enough for all of the guests, we will be renting a tent with heat lamps however I’m still a little worried. Our Save the Dates just went out and now I’m considering choosing another date or looking for another venue. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

My sister-in-law had her wedding in her backyard and it poured. Her guest count was about fifty and we all scrambled to get under the tents she rented. She rented two. One for over the dance floor and one for over where everyone was sitting. Her and her husband had to run in the rain to get chairs and move them so she got soaked. It was July so the temperature wasn't really a concern, but depending on where you live October can be cold especially mixed with rain. If it were me, I would have a backup plan.

You definitely need a backup venue that can fit all your guests indoors.

I definitely encourage having a strong back-up plan for rain!!

We were surprised by Hurricane Matthew for our October wedding! ☔

You definitely want a back up plan but don't stress what is said in the almanac. Last year the date of our original wedding (postponed to this year) was supposed to be "the best day of the year" and it ended up storming and rainy! I'm sure you can make do with tents but they may not be the best depending on how hard its raining.
