Bad Tippers - Red Flag or Deal Breaker?

Lynnie, on August 13, 2019 at 11:46 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 63

Do bad tippers make you cringe, or are you willing to take them on despite their tipping flaws?

Is bad tipping a red flag or a deal breaker?

Never even thought this was an issue. We usually agree on the tip amount, and try to tip 20%, unless there was something really not great about the service.

Not a deal breaker. My FH and I both agree on an amount for the tip when we go out for food

We always try to tip 20%. I don't think it would bother me that much if he tipped less.

Deal Breaker. I work in a restaurant, I hear about poor tipping from our poor servers every day. I could never do that, that’s their livelihood! FH and I tip 20% for decent service(more for spectacular) and 15% for so-so service.

Deal breaker. It's embarrassing to have someone mistreat waitstaff.

Big Red Flag. I think that the way someone treats a server or "The Help" really says who they are. Plus as a server myself I make sure I leave a decent tip even if the service wasn't the greatest.

Red flag. My FH is a horrible tipper and it annoys me. I usually take care of the tip for that reason.

It depends on why. I have a friend who is a terrible tipper even though part of his pay comes from tips. My fiancee and I are good tippers for good service. We don't believe in rewarding someone who doesn't do their job.

Not really a big deal for me, but we're both good tippers so it's not an issue for us lol

Deal breaker for me, but I was a server and had to survive on tips. It doesn't have to be great tips all of the time and should be based on service. If someone always tipped badly and knew they were, i don't think I would be able to deal with that.

My college boyfriends mother was just rude when she ate out. She would tell the server how much they were going to get at the start of the meal and each time the "messed up" she would subtract money from it. I couldn't stand this and was mortified the first time it happened.
