Bad wedding favors ...

Just out of curiosity has anyone ever recevied a wedding favor that you didn't like or left behind? I'm sure I'm not the only one interested to see the answers ... it'd be good to know what to stray away from if we end up deciding to go this route.

I favor edible or usable non personalized trinkets(unless the couple are very close friends/family).I have been to way too many Italian weddings. Favors range from over the top to downright tasteless. I have received nice pieces of Lenox, which I gladly kept. I have also received Dollar Tree swans filled with Jordan Almonds, which were dropped kicked in the trash can. I am way too polite to leave them behind.

Our guests are receiving welcome bags; a bike charm; a box of maple candy; and a candy buffet.

You know, I am a germ phobe. My maple candy hearts are not individually wrapped. I thought I was the only one who would wear gloves and seal them in plastic before I put them in the box. Funny though, if I shared that with my guests, they would think I went overboard with the germ thing.

I agree that favors is a waste of money. And since we are doing a candy bar at our dessert reception, I decided to get personalize bags and that could be the favors. We also decided to do a donation to March Of Dimes in memory of our daughter. I rather spend money on something that people wont through away after a few months.

I think bottle openers are a great idea. Depending on your theme, you can find some really cute ones.
