Badgley Mischka Wedding Shoes - Painful?!

Sarah, on February 7, 2018 at 11:44 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

Hi all!

I got my wedding shoes a few months ago when I saw them on a Christmas sale. I absolutely love the look of them, and they fit, but I haven't broken them in as I don't want them to look too used for pictures on the day of.

However, I was looking through a coworker's wedding photos from her recent wedding, and was excited she had the same shoes as me. I told her and she said "oh yeah, they're pretty but damn do they hurt! Make sure you get a pair of flats for reception."

I hadn't expected to get flats as I LOVE these shoes and the hem for my dress will be made to the heels, but now I'm second guessing. Anyone have/wear these shoes? Are they as painful as she says? If so, do you/did you have reception flats and what did you do about the hem?

I didn't wear that style, but I wore another pair, the Giana, and they weren't awful, but it def didn't feel like I was walking on a cloud or anything. I made sure to wear them around the house for a couple weeks with thick socks on to break them in, that made a huge difference.

I got these foamy wedges to change into for dancing. They were the same height as my heels, so I didn't have any hem or bustle length issues. They were soooo comfy and I'm so glad I got them. My dress would have been dragging everywhere if I got flats. https://www.theweddingoutlet.com/Bride/Bride-Flip-Flops/white-wedge-bridal-flip-flops-crystals

I didn't wear those exact shoes, but I did wear a pair of their kitten heels as a bridesmaid. During pictures I did need to take them off for a few minutes. As soon as the dancing started we had provided flip flops for the guests. I ditched the heels and danced the night away. I agree with Mrs. Fall Bride, not terrible but I did feel some pain.

Do you normally wear heels? Does she? My sister and I bought the same heels and she complained saying they weren't comfortable for me they were but I always wear heels and she doesn't. If your really worried just wear them around your house a few days and see how they feel. Those were the heels I originally wanted so perfect but my FH and I are pretty much the same height and he requested that I not be taller then him on our wedding day. Things you do for love I hate flats but I got a beautiful pair from Badgley Mishka to wear.

Ooo this is a wonderful idea!!!! I think one of my bridesmaids did this same thing at her wedding, and I remember her being happy she had them, as well. Thanks for providing the link and everything, you rock! Smiley heart I may go ahead and get these. No harm having them just in case, right?!

I used to wear heels all the time, but in these past 6 months I've started to develop a bunyon on one of my big toes, making it painful to wear them as often as I used to Smiley cry

I wore my heels for my initial alterations quote and I remember complaining about how my toes felt numb when taking them off just from that, but I chalked it up to the really cold weather outside and the fact that they were open-toe shoes rather than the shoe itself.

I will definitely try to break them in at home since we have carpet and it won't scuff the shoes too much before the big day. Sweet of you to agree to flats for his sake! Smiley heart I'm so short compared to my FH so I may have to do the foam wedge sandals idea that Mrs. Fall Bride mentions above!

Try taping your third and fourth toe together for comfort. It works. I used medical tape that you can pick up anywhere.

Maybe break them in. I have talked to bride's that didn't break the heels in and yeah it hurt bad leaving blisters or use flats for the reception.
I'm using heels I've used before that are super comfy to dance in. I don't want to try a new pair and chance not breaking them in and having painful feet

Also, buy some body glide (what runners use for chafing) and apply it to your feet before putting on the shoes. It helps tremendously with rubbing and pinching.

Like my pinky toe and the one next to it? I've never heard of this! Interesting, how does it work?

That won't mess up the satin on the shoes at all? I thought about that but didn't want to stain the shoes. I suppose they'll get stained with sweat and dirt anyhow throughout the night lol

I worked at two different bridal shops, neither ever had good feedback about Badgley. There are certain things you can do to make them more comfortable but there are lots of other brands out there too! Try looking second hand, sample sales or outlet shops. Jimmy Choo is incredibly comfortable, as is BCBG (for me personally). If you're going to go with the Badgley, break them in, you can wear them around the house and find out where your pressure points will be. Moleskin will help with rubbing - pads on the bottom will help with soreness. I would also suggest no matter what buying a second (maybe cheaper) pair of heels to change into later on in the night. I work 6-10 hour events on my feet and halfway through the night it helps to change shoes. If you don't care about your dress dragging a little on the floor then go for a flat or shorter heel, if you do care, go with one that has a platform and are the same height! Hope this was a little helpful!

Jimmy Choo was my dream wedding shoe 😍😍 but not in the budget haha. I will definitely break them in, then! And looking at getting the foam platform wedge heels that the previous poster mentioned above! Definitely wanna be comfy and dancing all night.

I'm wearing basically the pump version of yours, OP. Standing in them for my fitting was very painful, and I can wear heals all day and night. (I know it's more painful to stand in them for a fitting than actually wear them, but still.)

I'd suggest insoles & just have some flats in case you need 'em!

The two toes before your pinky. Taping the two toes together relieves the pressure some on a nerve that runs there. If I wear heels and don't tape my toes, just the time of putting my shoes on and leaving my home is enough to make my feet hurt.

Link to an article showing what toes to tape and the writer's experience.

I bought these to wear originally, but I quickly realized it wouldn’t work. During my first fitting, I was standing in them for 4 hours straight and my legs felt like wet noodles. They were quivering and trembling, and my toes had deep lines in them. Second fitting I was only in them for an hour and my toes went completely numb. I ended up buying $20 Dexflex wedges from Payless. I still ended up changing to keds during the reception, but I was in a lot less pain and a lot more comfortable.

I just purchased the Ginny (kitten heel) and am worried about the same thing! I stopped wearing heels a while back for the same reason... I plan to try and break these in while at home so they don't get dirty. Even though the heel is not as high, I may try taping my toes, like the previous post said... Good luck to you!

I recently bought the same shoes for our wedding. I have walked around in them a little bit so far and they seemed comfortable to me. I do plan on wearing them more often around the house right before the wedding to really break them in.

I also bought a pair of the Kate Spade Keds just in case.

Everyone will say some brand or pair of shoes is painful. It is really a personal thing.
