Hi all!

I got my wedding shoes a few months ago when I saw them on a Christmas sale. I absolutely love the look of them, and they fit, but I haven't broken them in as I don't want them to look too used for pictures on the day of.

However, I was looking through a coworker's wedding photos from her recent wedding, and was excited she had the same shoes as me. I told her and she said "oh yeah, they're pretty but damn do they hurt! Make sure you get a pair of flats for reception."

I hadn't expected to get flats as I LOVE these shoes and the hem for my dress will be made to the heels, but now I'm second guessing. Anyone have/wear these shoes? Are they as painful as she says? If so, do you/did you have reception flats and what did you do about the hem?

I have noticed that, while wearing them to break them in, they're not hurting as much -- so crossing fingers! Still going to buy the foam wedges as a "just in case." Better safe than sorry!

Very true! I think for peace of mind I'll get the foam sandal wedges close to the wedding. I can alway return them if I don't use them!

I hate heels. I just bought some dexflex ones also from Payless and they’re just okay. I don’t care how cute people say “more expensive shoes,” don’t hurt. If they’re heels- they hurt to some degree. I’m all about buying GOOD shoes as if crappy materials will make a difference. They do. I have ugly shoes I love because they’re comfy, but they weren’t cheap. Heels are going to hurt even if they’re more expensive.

I wear heels all the time albeit not super high heels but 2 - 3" is not a problem to wear all day and into the evening and I have problem feet. As long as the shoe is a good shoe, a heel is OK with me. I bought the Badgley open toe sandal in two heights to try for my daughter's wedding, 3" and 2". Neither are acceptable. The height of the heel was not the issue, it's the toe box where the crystals are located; super painful! I have to return the shoes. There is no way this shoe can be broken in, it is way too painful. Here is the other catch, the bottom of the shoe is leather which is awesome but you have to try on carpet or it immediately gets marks. I didn't have carpet, crossing my fingers they take it back. I love the look of the shoes, they are beautiful and really wish they were comfortable, but no way am I going to wear a shoe that hurts. I'm wearing a gorgeous dress, I want shoes that fit properly and look great to wear all day and night. I'm irritated that I had to buy online and go through the process when if it was at the store, I would have known the answer in 1 minute, but instead, this becomes a two-week process. Online shopping is great for a million things but specialty items, not so much.

Your poor feet, did anyone know at the first fitting that your feet were killing you?

Yes, I mentioned it a few times. We all figured why not give it one more try, since the heels were expensive and I worked so hard to get them in the first place, hoping that they’d be broken in. But ultimately we ended up deciding to go with different shoes. Style didn’t out-weigh not being able to walk/stand in them, and I tried wearing them around home too and it didn’t seem to help. :/ I was bummed but it was a good choice. For the final fitting I brought in the new pumps and they worked just fine. And they were still red so I had my pop of color still!

People's feet aren't the same shape, so just because they hurt your coworkers feet doesn't mean they will hurt yours. That's why reviews for the same shoe will vary so much - with some people saying they are comfortable and others saying otherwise.

Can you find comfy heels that are a similar height, so you don't have to worry about the hem of your dress? You might be able to find an inexpensive pair of plain heels with good arch support, a different shaped toe box, and a block heel, and just switching between the two can help. Often times a shoe hurts because it isn't perfectly supporting your foot, but if you have a second pair of heels, even the same height, you may be able to get a little pressure relief by switching between them. Then you can wear these for photos and switch into more comfy shoes later in the evening without having to worry about how long your dress is.

Badgley Mischka's shoes are supposed to be made of leather (not the Jewel line, just the name brand line) so they should become more comfortable once they are broken in. You can try breaking them in a bit using the socks and hairdryer trick if you don't want to actually wear them, although I'd be careful about using hot air next to those gems if they happen to be glued on.

I just bought two pairs of Badgley Mischka Jewel wedges because I couldn't find any shoes the right height for my dress (needs to be about 1 1/2 inches and our ceremony is on grass so I need wedges or a block heel). I really wanted a great pair of shoes but now I just need something to get me through photos and I'll switch into slightly shorter or taller more comfortable shoes for the rest of the night if I have to. Fingers crossed they work!

Did you have backup shoes at first fitting?

No, I wasn’t expecting the shoes to hurt like they did. So I only got them for the last fitting, but I knew about what heel height I needed (my seamstress advised me on what to get).
