Has any brides that bake decided to make their own sweets for their weddings?? If you so how did it work out?

I love to bake but no I m not baking for the wedding. I am such a perfectionist it would stress me out way too much. It also depends how big of wedding it is, the few days before the wedding are going to be pretty busy I could. not imagine trying to squeeze baking for over 100 people into the schedule. But if you think you can handle it then go for it best of luck to you!

I agree that unless you are a professional baker with tons of experience and access to an appropriate kitchen and storage facility, I wouldn't take this on. Unless you have experience making and freezing baked goods, it is going to be a LOT of last minute preparation, then you'll have to pack, transport, and set everything up. For daughter and SIL's wedding the only last minute prep we had was putting the favors together -- bagging 2 large bakery cookies and putting stickers on them -- and then we had to box them and transport them to the venue without any getting damaged so the venue could set them out on the tables. Even that seemingly simple task took three times as long as we expected and was really stressful on the afternoon of the rehearsal. In hindsight, it's the one thing I wish we hadn't done. If cost is an issue, you can purchase baked goods from someplace like Costco (they'll do special orders) and then you'll just need to worry about transporting and setting them up. Hopefully, a friend or family member can help with that.

While it is a money savior I just think it’s a lot to take on. Plus if you’re getting married in a venue and not like a backyard or something I would check first. Some do not allow you to bring in food that was made by you or your guests (unless it’s like a favor possibly)

I will be in a few weeks!

Our venue is very open about bringing outside food/drinks and they even have a double oven I may use if we still need to bake anything the day before. I plan on making 3 different desserts 2-3 days before the wedding and storing them in the fridge.

I'll give you an update on how well things go.

Hi I appuld you for doing this for your wedding I'm not a baker baker like my grandmother was but I bake here and there but for my family. But if you want to do it to give your wedding that touch then sweetheart go for it. But it's best to have help especially if you are having a big wedding but as a upcoming bride do you have the time with planning. You should be relaxing the day before your wedding day than to be stressed out because you want it to be perfect. If you do take it on can you share with us what you have done.

Update!! Mine was a success! We were expecting 70-80 something guests, I baked 11 x15 peach cobbler cheesecake, 11 x15 knock you naked brownies, and 2 9inch angel food cake layers/36 cupcakes. I planned them out as I knew from experience that the peach cobbler cheesecake would take a whole day. And I was pretty sure I could bake the others in the same day. I made them Wednesday and Thursday for my Saturday wedding and wrapped them up when room temp and put them in the fridge. We were decorating Friday so I didn't want to have to worry about baking. My backup plan was to buy whatever desserts we could find the day of if needed. I did have a few hiccups but they were fixable, the peach cobbler cheesecake almost slid off the counter, I broke a glass bowl trying to melt Caramel, and my frosting did not set up. So I caught the cheesecake, melted the chocolate a different way, and used a tub of frosting from Walmart.

So my biggest tips for this are the following:Be very realistic about how long whatever you're baking takes to prep, bake, cool, storage space, and any decorating.Plan it out, and leave time for setbacks.Be open to the possibility of having to change things at the last minute.Be mentally prepared to handle the stress. And be ready to pack a whole lotta love into those sweets!!
It's definitely doable, and so totally worth it!

I second what MOB SO CAL has said. Professional pastry kitchens are really important for these kinds of events. I love to bake with my husband every week but we can’t imagine having to prepare high quality desserts while trying to attend rehearsal ceremony, rehearsal dinner, and so on.
One thing that a lot of people forget is to check their venue and food vendor contracts. Most of the time, they do not let you bring outside food-even dessert unless it is coming from a verified business with sanitary and food safety measure
