Ballgown vs. mermaid style

Mrs.strickland, on April 19, 2018 at 9:58 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Just wondering on which dress everyone thinks would b more comfortable for an outside ceremony for a spring time wedding in ocala fl. I have always pictured myself in a ballgown dress and i’m goin next month for the first time tryin on dresses. I feel like i might end up with a mermaid style which i’m fine with. Also i’m not goin to b doin a dress change for the reception, it will b the same dress for both ceremony and reception. Thanks!

I found myself to love the mermaid style look but they were most definitely hard to sit and move in. Honestly try on dresses and whatever you love.. go with!

IMO, it's all about what YOU feel most comfortable in. My dress is mermaid style, but ballgown dresses are BEAUTIFUL as well. For a spring wedding however, I would recommend mermaid, as it will definitely be lighter.

It really depends on what looks the best on. I went dress shopping with a specific silhouette in mind, but found a completely different style was much more flattering. Either dress would be fine for an outdoor ceremony. You just need to try dresses on and find they style you love Smiley smile

Ball gown will def be more comfortable and flowy, personally I don’t know how people move and dance in mermaid style but they sure do look pretty!

This is something that you can only answer for yourself by trying on dresses. When you try on dresses, ask yourself which styles you feel more comfortable wearing. Ask yourself which dresses you feel are more flattering, because you'll be more comfortable wearing a style that makes you feel confident. If you pick a dress that isn't as flattering because you think it's the more comfortable choice, you'll end up feeling self-conscious the whole time and you'll look uncomfortable. Also, ask yourself how you want to be able to move, but keep in mind that if you end up loving mermaid, that doesn't mean your movements will be all that restricted. It will be ordered in your size and you can work with your seamstress to alter it so you can move and sit easily.

I had a mermaid dress and had no issues moving around. I also was very surprised to find that mermaid dresses were more flattering on me than ballroom or A-line dresses. Those styles, while easy to move in, made me feel a little bigger than I actually was.

Additionally, keep in mind that any of those kinds of styles can have lots of heavy layers, depending on the dress. The more layers, or the heavier the material the harder it might be for you to move around, or the hotter you might feel if the weather will be warm where you're getting married at that time of year. Pay attention to that kind of stuff when trying on dresses, too.

Whew! Florida is warm, I would go with light and airy, or mermaid style dress, it would be much cooler and for emergency situation like (bathroom) it wouldn't be a heap of dress andi don't want a bunch of people looking at me while, I do my business, if you know, what I'm saying. But ultimately, it's up to you, whatever you decide, you'll be a beautiful bride
