I can’t believe the day has finally come and gone! It was a whirlwind day in the best day possible!
Everything worked out beautifully, but I will say I was stressed until it actually began, which wasn’t ideal!
Some hiccups along the way,
The hair/makeup team arrived to our getting ready location... without the laid stylist that I did the trial run with. One of her assistants explained to me that she is really sick and didn’t want to show up and get everyone else sick... I was freaking out (obviously) but ultimately decided to allow her to come and only to my hair/makeup. It turned out perfect and I’m not sick (yet 😂)
we forgot components to our “details” photos (rsvp cards, calligraphed envelope, stamps etc) which I was so mad at myself for.. but in hindsight, who cares!
Seating chart fail! We had MULTIPLE guests show up uninvited, and quite a few who rsvped yes but didn’t show... this really jacked up our seating chart... to the point where my planner actually had to ask what I wanted her to do... which I responded “I don’t care do whatever you think is best” it all worked out... but some random people were sitting together 😂
~words of wisdom~ don’t worry about the small stuff!!! There were so many small details that I thought were really important that on the day of... just weren’t. Like which signature drinks to serve? No one cared, everyone just wanted free alcohol. I almost gave myself a heart attack over the seating chart... and you know what, it didn’t work out and people might have not sat in the exact place that I wanted them, but no one cared and had a good time! Some people didn’t even look at the seating chart and sat wherever 😂
last hiccup- at the end of the night, me and my hubby decided we wanted to end on our friend group’s favorite song, then do our exit... the DJ played the song, and we didn’t realize it was 15 minutes before our set “exit time” so our driver wasn’t there yet... our planner wrangled everyone back inside before the sparklers were lit and we all partied for a few more minutes and re-exited 😂
Words of Advice: KNOW YOUR GUEST... I knew that where I live and am from (Nashville) seating charts aren’t super common! Everyone is really friendly and wants to meander around... so usually weddings are open seating. I listened to everyone on here, and google, and you know what? I should have went with my gut and not had a seating chart! People were sitting at all kinds of wrong tables and were perfectly content with it 😂 I would have been better off not having one!
Also, make sure you pack your bag WITH EVERY DETAIL (at least) THE DAY BEFORE YOUR REHEARSAL. There were a few small things I forgot to pack because I figured “anything I forget I can just tell the groom to bring the day of!” ... no... your mind is running a million times a minute and there is no way you’re going to remember to go back and get anything that isn’t super pertinent to the day!
All in all — the day was an absolute dream that I’ll never stop reliving. The little hiccups are already funny to us! Here are some pictures our photographer has sent, and a few from friends can’t wait for the full album and video!
