This year has been a year. We were originally scheduled to be married 4/4/2020, and I remember joining WeddingWire almost a year ago with all of these fresh and energetic ideas. I was never one for a huge party - neither is my husband - so we decided to go with a morning ceremony and lunch versus an all night party. The ideal date to us was long enough for everyone to plan but not too long for us to wait. February, our anniversary, was too soon. April was perfect, a nice spring wedding with gorgeous flowers.
I jumped into planning. Lilacs and silver, gorgeous spring flowers. My bridesmaids would wear a nice purple dress, everyone could be in whatever they wanted to wear. I was a laid back bride. We didn't plan a shower or a Bachelorette- I had no interest in the latter and no way to get to people for the former that would be convenient for me without taking time off, which I was planning for our gorgeous Hawaii honeymoon.
We realized mid-March we would have to postpone. Right before everything shut down, we talked with all our vendors and moved to August. That was easy - we got everyone on board and moved within a few hours. Alterted all our guests, planned for August. Then we got married legally on our original date, just us and my husband's best friend. The pictures are bad, but it was good to be married despite all the chaos that was going on.
Then in July, we realized we should probably postpone again. To our shock, the venue would not let us postpone again. We would've had to pay for everything all over again, and if you've been following along this wedding was paid for in MARCH. Annoyed does not describe this. Eventually, to make a long emotional story short, we decided to have three weddings. We wanted these photos anyway, so we ended up keeping our August date and livestreaming to everyone. But we also need to make a third wedding!!!! ....I'm going to plan that later.
No one really traveled except for my mom, stepdad, and sister. I am very blessed for that. My mother in law was upset by not being able to be there, and my dad wanted to walk me down the aisle.... so we gotta do a part 3 to getting married. BUT. We have beautiful photos.
