I am in disbelief and pure bliss. I expected my wedding to be great, but I truly thought that expecting it to be “the best day of my life” was over-hyping it..... it wasn’t. It was the best day of my life.

Here’s some things that went wrong:

-My bridal assistant who was supposed to be provided by our venue, wasn’t there. My mom asked the coordinator where she was. The coordinator was like “don’t worry, I’m here!” But was basically useless all day. My mom had to do everything... make sure everything was set up, let people in the ballroom, and I’m sure so much more that she didn’t tell me about because she didn’t want to stress me out!

BUT: my mom did a fantastic job and I was basically stress-free.

-MY STRAPLESS DRESS WAS TOO BIG! I tried it on last week and it fit. I must’ve lost weight in the past week. I put it on 10 mins before our ceremony and it just slipped right down.

BUT: my bridesmaid pinned it pretty well, I was able to hold my arms to my sides and basically hold it up lol. In so many of our photos, it looks like my husband (!!!) is holding me really tight, but he’s really just holding my dress up 😂🤦🏻‍♀️Honestly though, it was ok. Once I ate it fit a little better, and once I started holding up the train with the wrist strap, it didn’t pull it down as much.

-The venue was supposed to put an arrangement of candles on every table for our centerpieces and they just put like 2 votive candles on each table instead.

BUT: I literally didn’t even notice at the reception... I didn’t even think about it until I looked at the photos this morning!

-We specifically said we wanted to do our first dance after we ate, and then open up the dance floor. But we did our grand entrance, and then the MC (who works for the venue) was like “alright now it’s time for the first dance!” It was SOOO awkward. Husband and I were NOT prepared to dance in front of 100 people. We made it through about a minute of the song and I was feeling so uncomfortable and anxious.

BUT: as a reaction to that, after about a minute I just yelled out “everyone come join us!” and they did, and it made it much less awkward.

-When we opened up the dance floor, the MC was saying he was going to make an announcement. He even turned the speakers up. And then we pressed play on our playlist. And MC disappeared, with the microphone.

BUT: my husband is the loudest, most energetic person I have ever met. He basically became our hype man 😂He was running around to tables, pulling people up onto the dance floor, literally bouncing around yelling and singing. People kept coming up to me and being like “is he like this all the time???” The answer: yep! I seriously feel so lucky. I can’t believe what an amazingly fun person he is.

-Tangentially, we WERE having trouble getting people on the dance floor, which we were ok with (Sunday wedding, no DJ)

BUT: the song that got EVERYONE on the dance floor, was Club Can’t Handle Me. Also one of husband’s favorite songs. We had such a blast dancing with our friends.

-Our cake fillings were wrong. BUT: it was still absolutely delicious.

-I slept horribly. But as soon as we started getting ready, I had a surge of energy which got me through the entire day no problem.

And now, for some things that went absolutely PERFECT:

-Husband’s face when he saw me down the aisle. Beyond what I ever could have imagined. He was full on SOBBING. The photographer showed me an amazing photo she got of his face and I cannot wait to have that one. I had taken a tissue and tucked it in my hand by my bouquet... best decision I ever made. I should have brought more honestly. As soon as I got to the alter I passed it to husband because he needed it way more than I did 😂throughout the ceremony we kept passing this one gross tissue back and forth to wipe our eyes. People were laughing and everyone said that was so weirdly sweet and adorable. So many people said to me “I didn’t think I was going to cry, then I saw your husband crying and I BROKE DOWN.” My cousin said he had never seen his dad cry in his entire life, until our wedding.

-Our self-written vows were absolutely amazing. Also had people in tears, and people kept coming to both of us throughout the day saying how much they loved them.

-Despite our first dance being awkward and not what we expected, the videographer pulled us outside for a bit and had us dance to the music that was being played at the restaurant (restaurant was connected to our venue). We were out on the porch of the restaurant (no one else was out there) and what are the odds, Perfect by Ed Sheeran comes on. This was by far the most romantic moment of our day, and probably my favorite. A stolen moment, just the two of us, dancing outside. I cannot wait to see how that video turned out.

-It was supposed to rain, but I am so glad I hadn’t let that stress me out. We had the most PERFECT weather. Partly cloudy, mid 70s. Our photographers left at 4:30 so at 4:25 we went outside to do a few more photos... and as we were doing the LAST photo, a few rain drops hit my arm. Husband and I burst out laughing. It could not have worked out more perfectly!!!

Seriously, I know everyone says it, but the things you think matter, just DON’T. Things can and will go wrong, and it just won’t matter. Once I saw my husband’s face down the aisle, nothing else in the entire world mattered.

I’m sure there’s more, but I’ll save it for my Pro BAM 😊Just wanted to give you all a recap because you’ve all been such a huge network of support throughout this process. Thank you all for everything, and I hope everyone else’s wedding days are as wonderful as ours was!
