Banquet Table Centerpiece Spacing Help?

Melissa, on January 27, 2019 at 6:14 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

I have come to accept that if I want to have flowers, I'm going to have to DIY them. My dream for the reception is like the below photo and I've been able to find basically all of the decor items that I need at Ikea!

Is there any kind of rule of thumb or design book that someone could recommend that explains the spacing for centerpieces on a banquet table? Since there will be a combination of small vases of flowers, cutting boards with bread, bunches of rosemary and lavender, and candles of various heights, I'm quite lost. I know that if I put too little on the table, it will look weirdly sparse, too much and it will be cluttered. I'm a scientist, I need an equation to figure this out. :'(

I would go with the picture be ause that will be the most helpful. So as I look at it it shows me 2 mason jars with simple flowers in it in between every other two settings, a wine bottle in between every 3 settings, a cutting board between every few settings, rosemary or pine bunch in between each setting, table cards in between every 5 or so settings and little tea light candles and flowers, maybe olive oils, etc in between all of the leftover spaces! Hope this helps

Thank you, this really does help. I was looking at the picture and trying to figure out how things were spaced here, but was having trouble with the angle that they shot it. Your estimates definitely help me determine the right number of each item, so I appreciate it.

You guys totally speak my language! I'm actually going to write that down and see if I can't adapt it for my own tables.

    Melissa, your inspiration is GORGEOUS.

Smiley heart I hope we can both make it work! I'm also going to adapt it a bit, slightly fewer vases, way more candles.
