Bar hopping

Sara, on January 6, 2018 at 3:25 AM Posted in Wisconsin Planning 0 6
Just wondering if anyone else is going bad hopping between ceremony a d reception. Is this just a Wisconsin thing? All the articles say don't make guests wait more than an hour but I've always known people to bad hop and have a few hours between. We're doing it!

We're not bar hopping but did that 1st time around and I think it's completely normal here ijn Wisco as lpong as you provide a place for guests to go if they're out of town.

We had appetizers and open bar from 4-6 got married at 11

This time around ceremony and reception are 4.5 hrs apart but we will stay there and have appetizers

My friend is doing that too. I've never heard of it and I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life. I think it's rude to leave your guests waiting and why not just drink at your wedding since your paying for it anyways.

I've heard of it done, but have never been to a wedding where that was the case, nor do I intend to do it at mine.

I went to a wedding a couple years ago when the couple had the ceremony and the reception at the same venue, but essentially kicked everyone out for an hour and a half to reset the room. It was really awkward because most of the friends were from out of town, and we had no idea where to go in the meantime! Eventually we found a bar down the road to have a couple drinks.

It would have been great if the B&G provided a small list of bars for people to go to. I love the idea of bar hopping, especially if a lot of the people know each other (college or high school friends, big family, etc). Depending on where you're from in WI, bar hopping can be a huge part of the culture and people love a good drink! So if you're not doing a cocktail hour, I am totally for the bar hopping idea. Sounds fun!

We went bar hopping for a wedding I was in. It was poorly planned out. We left after taking pictures that took forever and by the time we made it to the first bar we could only have 1 drink and then leave for dinner. During that time also we had to try bustling the brides dress and we failed miserably because we were rushing to get from place to place. I personally wouldn't do it because I want to enjoy my guests company.

Always bar hopped in between when I’ve been in a wedding party. Not for an extended period of time, but just from the time photos are done until it’s time to walk into the dinner. So guests can still go right over the venue and have cocktail hour.
