Bare Down There

AEW, on August 9, 2019 at 5:50 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 1 37

Hi Hi,

I know this may be a little bit of a personal question, but . . .

What is a safe way to get clean slate for the big day that won't result in ingrown hairs or razor burn? I can't use the remover gels or creams. And I'm not sure I'm brave enough to see the nice waxing lady.

Suggestions?

You want a True Romance product called Coochy. I have no razor bumps, no ingrown hairs, nothing when I use it.

I honestly just go for a full wax. Waxers have seen everythinggggg. I think of it the same way I see my OB. Nothing I do or say can shake him. My waxer is closer to me than my hair stylist 😂🤣

I agree with PP...spring for the waxing. You won't regret it and it really isn't that bad of an experience! I promise Smiley smile

Waxing would be your best bet if you can’t use creams! I just use creams, I shave regularly so I don’t have much to remove, cream works perfectly.
However I have had a wax, waxing to me doesn’t hurt that much. But everyone is different!! Just don’t go in thinking it’ll be like that scene in 40 Year Old Virgin, lol

Do a wax or, if you feel brave, try sugaring, which will actually make the hair softer and thinner when it grows back. You can do it! The pain is only for a second and then you will love not having to shave.

Yeah, I've heard that exact phrase before about another subject but I'll keep it PG lol

I've never heard about sugaring. What's the difference?

A Brazilian wax is the best decision I've ever made. It hurts, really badly, and you get embarrassed. But you let everything grownto the length of a grain of rice. Have a glass of wine or two, and a pain killer before hand and go. They're professionals. I suggest European Wax centers and ask for someone with five or more years experience.

    @Margaret: Finally, the truth LOL

I know it's gonna be unpleasant and I have sensitive skin. But a little wine is a chicken's best friend. What kind of pain killer? Like Motrin or Advil?

I agree with others that waxing is really great! I did it and it was shockingly not really painful for me.
Have you ever had anything waxed before? If you've ever done something like your legs it might ease your worries a little bit because it will give you a slight more impression of what you can expect. Not exactly because obviously it is not the same, but a good idea of at least what the process is like and how well you tolerate the pain. For me, waxing my legs is not at all painful. The Brazilian was a little painful but not very much.
As PP said- you HAVE to grow it out to at least a certain length. I believe they said this is because your hair grows in three different cycles, and they want all of the hair grown out so that all of it is removed.
For pain meds, don't take anything that thins your blood like Tylenol, I like ibuprofen but that's just my painkiller of choice. I take it for migraines so I know it works really well for me. This prevents the risk of any bleeding.

I am getting waxed. If you are worried about pain, try taking a tylenol before hand. My waxer offers wine complementary to help you relax. But I am smooth and stay hairless for over 2 weeks after.

I think sugaring is the best option. I’ve been waxed before and a few stubborn hairs didn’t come. They can’t rewax so it was very undesirable. It absolutely hurts like bad, but to me it was worth every penny. I haven’t done it in years, but plan on doing it for my honeymoon since it’s beach.

Full Brazilian wax! I just did my first one last weekend.. it only hurts for a few seconds and it’s SO worth it. You can get Tend Skin for razor burn and bumps too.. I use it morning and night and it’s a miracle potion!

Soooo, I'm on Byrdie reading up on all this waxing - sugaring- tweezing business lol

I have some time before the big day so I can do a trial run I guess. The only issue is that I if I find someone in NY once I get there, I won't be able to go back to them before the wedding in St. Thomas and I'll have to go to someone different. That's a little too many people manhandling my tidbits lol

But at least I'm willing to give it a shot

If you can do anything besides waxing, do it. It looks like ppl have found some creams that will work. Waxing was a horrible experience. I did it for six months for the sake of my then-bf now-fiance, and I will never go back. I eventually got lasered which was so worth it, but that may be more of a commitment than you’re looking for.

Haha...thats funny...sorry about my wording lol.
Its a diffrent technique. The wax is a apply once and just ripp it off technique. The sugaring is a sugar mass that keeps getting massaged onto the skin and removed. They go over the same area several times. It hurts more, because its not a quick ripping off. Im allergic to bees wax (i swell to new dimensions and sit on ice packs for days....yeah not normal) and most places dont use synthetic wax, so I went for sugaring. Its just sugar, lemon and water.
They do have YouTube videos showing you how its done. Good luck!

It's all good FMD - we're all grown. Since I'm sure it's probably NSFW, I'll look it up once I get done here.

    Thanks again!

I have had many children which has caused my skin down below to be very elastic and stretchy, Don’t they need to pull the skin tight to wax? Has anybody that has had a wax also have loose skin down there?
