Bare Down There

Hi Hi, I know this may be a little bit of a personal question, but . . . What is a safe way to get clean slate for the big day that won't result in ingrown hairs or razor burn? I can't use the remover gels or creams. And I'm not sure I'm brave enough to see the nice waxing lady. Suggestions?

Hi Hi,

I know this may be a little bit of a personal question, but . . .

What is a safe way to get clean slate for the big day that won't result in ingrown hairs or razor burn? I can't use the remover gels or creams. And I'm not sure I'm brave enough to see the nice waxing lady.

Suggestions?

I would say try waxing. To me it hurts, but not unbearably. I have super sensitive skin. My face will be red for like a day after I wax. Brazilian hurts for a couple of hours after. Maybe not hurt, but it's sensitive. If you have a good waxer it shouldn't hurt that bad during. They rip and apply preasure and ur good. The first time hurts the worst take like 2 aspirin before. I would not drink!!! Drinking can increase blood flow and make you more sensitive.

You want to exfoliate and have ur skin hydrated. Also it can hurt more if it's right after your period.

I've heard sugaring is a good option. I've done waxing, I'd just go to an experienced well reviewed place and go early to apply lidocaine if you think you'll need it. I'd also get an exfoliating glove to use after regardless of what you do.

Thank you for asking this question. I was wondering the exact same thing.

I've heard using a men's razor works better because it's meant for sensitive skin and rough hair. I waxed my arm pits once and they were on fire for two days 😭
Otherwise I'd brave the Brazilian. If you're scared wax your pits first they're also sensitive but not as much as down below.

Just do a Brazilian wax. It’s totally worth the awkwardness and the pain. But make sure you do it at least 3 days before your wedding (or when you plan to have sex). Sex can cause irritation on a freshly waxed area if you partner is not completely bare as well ☺️

For me personally, the Brazilian wax was a lot less painful than getting my arm pits

I know you said you don't want to go get a wax and I can understand that I am actually allergic to the wax they use. So like some PP have said maybe do sugaring? Not sure how all that works and stuff but you never know. But this might be TMI but I just use a conditioner that is hypoallergenic with no smells and shave it (new razor). I don't experience the bumps and I have REALLY sensitive skin. I also lotion (the outside also hypoallergenic and NO smells) to help the smoothness. I also don't let the FH near me until at least the second day after shaving.

I second this, its called coochy cream it it works wonders! I always suffered from razor burn and ingrown hairs and since I started using this its all gone. It makes the razor glide! Its like a shaving cream pretty much but its a lotion.

Coochy is a good product. Also what I found that works best for me is buying a really good razor 5 or more blades (typically men's brand), a good shaving cream. if its really thick or a lot of hair.. trim it down first. Let it steam first, then apply the cream and rub it in a bit. Then shave it in the way it grows.. with the good razor you wont need to go over one area more than 3x. After Ive gotten all the sides, top done. I go in very carefully and get the lips complete, i trim any wild hairs in the lips. Moisturize, the next day I do a light exfoliate on the top to keep any bumps away. I shave again once the hair has grown about 1/2-1 inch. Hope this helps!

SN: I did wax a few times. Although, it wasnt super bad.. I just couldnt stand it lol and I didnt wanna pay $50 every single time. I dont have any in growns or red bumps. Use a clean razor and allow it to air dry (store it properly). I get about 6-7 good uses before I exclusively use it for my underarms only and use a new one for my privies.

I really appreciate your honesty. I usually do the trim and shave thing on a regular but was just thinking of doing a little something special for the big day. I have one of those little battery operated trimmers from Walmart and that works pretty well. Just needed more advice/info on products for getting the "newborn" look lol

It's great to get it all off but when those suckers start to grow back in, chile . . . It gets soooooo itchy lol

But I'll look into the coochy cream and anything else that will help.

    Thanks again Destini!

I am going to get waxed. It isnt as expensive as I thought, but this is my first time and I'm very nervous! Probably will have a couple drinks first!

Sugaring is gentler on the skin vs a hard or soft wax. I just had it done actually and the sugaring wasn't as bad as the hard/soft wax. It stings and it is awkward but its so worth it. I definitely struggle with razor burn and get ingrown hairs and waxing seems to be the best option if you struggle with the same issues.

I just had waxing and sugaring done 4 weeks ago. She did a little of both so I could compare. Sugaring hurt far more! My lady said for this area she didn't recommend it because it does hurt more since the same area is gone over multiple times.

Overall it wasn't near as bad as I was expecting. I was red for about a day (which made FH nervous) and am doing it again this week.

If u have time, look on Groupon for laser hair removal, take about 6 months/ 6 treatments and it lasts years
