Bare-faced Brides

ThePeoplesBride, on March 16, 2018 at 2:39 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 22
Are there any brides who are planning to not wear makeup or wear a very minimal amount of make up for their wedding? Are there any married women who went this route for their wedding day? Any regrets? How did your pictures turn out?

My best friend did minimal makeup about 5 years ago. She has great skin. I on the other hand have lots of hyperpigmentation so although my makeup will be more coverage it will still be “natural.”

At this current time, I'm not planning on wearing any or if I do very minimal.

I almost never wear make-up (foundation/lipstick) so my current plan is a little eye makeup but I might change my mind.

I never wear make-up. I didn't for for our engagement pictures and they turned out fine. If I do wear make-up it will probably be just eye make up

I looked like me and i had a lot of make up on. If done properly it shouldn't necessarily be that obvious.

Since I never wear makeup, I will only be doing a little mascara, eyeliner, maybe a touch of eye shadow and some fabulous lip gloss I got for my birthday a while back.

I was very on the fence about makeup for a while. I usually wear mascara only and very light powder on my face. Ultimately, I decided I wanted to look more glamorous for the ceremony and pictures, and I liked the idea of a professional doing my makeup when I had enough to do already. What I am considering is taking off the face full of make up at the reception and reapplying my usual mascara so I look more like myself when we let loose and start dancing with our friends!

Photographer's lighting will wash you out with no makeup. I generally wear very little makeup, some eyeliner on my lid, blush and maybe some gloss. However, when I went for my makeup trial and she let me see the makeup in all different types of lighting, you'd be surprised how different it could look. I felt like I had a lot of makeup on but it didn't look like it in the pictures. Just go to someone who specializes in a natural look.

I'm doing natural makeup with a little pop on the eyes.

The entire point of makeup is for it to look like it's barely there (Unless you like to experiment with bold designs) so you'll still look like you, but without any discoloration/acne/dark circles if you have those.

You'll still look beautiful on your day because you'll be radiating with happiness and positively glowing! But like firstoneat56 said, no makeup might wash you out in photographs.

If I had great skin I wouldn't have worn makeup on my wedding day. I don't wear any type of makeup during the week, and maybe apply mascara and lipstick once every few months-all I know how to do 😂My face needs, and can handle, lots of makeup when it's for an important event like a wedding.

I still felt and looked like me, just a much better one.

I'm not a huge makeup wearer- when I make an effort it's a powder and mascara. However, my HMUA made me look super natural and even with the pictures I still very much look like myself with just more mascara and lip color on lol. I've had several people from my wedding ask me about her because she did such a great job. I think I'd try to do a photoshoot with no makeup or minimal makeup prior to trying it out on the wedding day because others are right about photography lighting.

I will have very minimal. I don't wear makeup normally, especially since I have a sensitive skin condition I'm trying to treat. I will be evening out my skin tone, adding mascara and a little eyeliner, eyeshadow, and lip stain.

I don't wear make-up very often because I tend to sweat a lot. When I did let my cousin do my make up for a party, I felt like a clown. I ended up in the bathroom washing all of my make up off. I really hope that I don't have that experience on my wedding day.

When we married almost 32 years ago, having your "make-up done" wasn't really a thing. I did my own make-up like I always did -- very light, mascara, a little blush, and lip gloss -- and you know what? I look pretty and super happy in all the photos. Certainly professional make-up can look great, but I think a lighter application can look good, too. A happy bride glows naturally! Smiley heart

I very rarely wear makeup, so I’m considering not having it for my wedding! But when I mentioned it to my mother - she was very surprised! my FH totally prefers me without makeup, because I look like I do everyday.

ny big concern is if I do get my makeup done by a professional, I’ll look completely different in my pictures, and regret it.

Thank you guys so much for your feedback! It's really interesting to see all the different viewpoints. Especially from those who don't usually wear make up but did on their wedding day.

I'm still on the fence, though I think I will get a trial done just to experience it and see if it's enough to sway me.

I don't think you will regret it as long as you and your MUA are on the same page about the look that you're going for. Firstoneat56 is a great example of a skilled makeup artist and client coming together to create a look that is super natural. She looks like herself just better and a dash fancier.

Schedule a trial with a MUA whose portfolio has the look you want. That might put you at ease.

I definitely will be wearing makeup as my skin tone is all uneven and I have acne scarring from my teenage years. But I am commenting because my sister went either bare faced or close to it because that’s what she does in every day life. It was great, pictures were great because she looked like herself. I doubt anyone even noticed as they just know her as looking natural.

Oh just wanted to add I had another friend go mostly barefaced too, maybe some mascara but that’s it. She did have a make up trial but since she never wears make up she said she felt like a Barbie doll so she didn’t do it for the wedding!
