Barefoot Forest Ceremony

Crystal, on January 9, 2021 at 8:13 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 11

My ceremony is going to be in the forest and my reception will be in a brick barn. My theme is very vintage boho and I really want to go barefoot during the ceremony. I do however have shoes for the reception.

I wanted to see if anyone else had a FOREST ceremony barefoot and to ask about any pros/cons?

It's a great idea in theory or in the movies that doesn't translate well to real life. There's lots of stuff on the ground you don't want touching your bare feet. A forest ceremony with shoes would be gorgeous and there are many of those online including Instagram.

I agree with Michelle's points. As a guest, I wouldn't want to be barefoot.

I live in northern AZ where there’s pine trees & mountains. Your vision sounds beautiful but you need to keep in mind what is on the ground in the forest. Lots of things that can really hurt & damage your feet.

I agree. This makes me worried about any sharp items or bugs.
If you just have to go barefoot maybe use rugs instead of aisle runners to protect your feet?

I attended a pagan Viking wedding in the forest and it was magical!! ✨ We all partied into the night under the stars, then camped at the site over night. It’s literally the most fun and most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been to. And the photos were KILLER!! However, we all wore shoes. I don’t think it would be safe to walk in the forest barefoot with all the twigs, rocks, moss, etc. on the ground. You could look into dance shoes that give the appearance of being barefoot, or check out “hidden shoes”. They are a sticky “sole” you put on the bottom of your feet to protect them (a lot of people use them at the beach to protect their feet from hot sand), but it looks like you’re bare foot

Oops my bad, Crystal. make sure you bring flip flops or something just in case there's sharp stuff. Not sure which forest, but the one I grew up near had many pinecone trees. Not dun to step on barefoot 😭

Rocks, twigs, animal droppings, glass, trash, mud, YIKES!

Plus I know when I’m bare foot I spend more time looking at the ground and I walk a little funny since I’m being careful/tentative about my step. Not the look of want while walking down the isle.

I LOVE being barefoot outside! But I always am looking down to make sure I am not stepping on any rocks or sticks or pinecones (or sometimes even broken glass), and I often have to walk gingerly too. It's probably not the best look for the processional. Maybe you could where some slippers or sandals for your walk down the aisle, and the take them off at the altar or later on, but just have them when you need them.

Here are some cute slippers from JJHouse that definitely have boho vibes:https://www.jjshouse.com/women-s-leatherette-wedge-heel-closed-toe-wedges-with-stitching-lace-047153539-g153539
