Barn wedding on a budget!

Tori, on May 18, 2017 at 4:22 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 26

We are trying to find a barn venue in the area that isn't going to cost half of our wedding budget... have any other ladies been able to find a barn type venue that isn't an arm and a leg?!??

Depends where your location is.. ours is in a finished barn venue that isn't cheap. However, we live in Idaho so there are plenty of legit barns on people's property that sometimes are utilized for weddings. That's much cheaper since some are basically glorified tents, there's no AC or floor ya know

We found the tea barn in Maryland. It was very cheap, but weird to reserve! You have to call no more than one year in advance, first come first serve. It was so frustrating! I was the third person to call for the day I wanted... naturally, we moved on and found somewhere else. I got a call two months ago saying the other two fell through, and it could be mine if I wanted it. A little too late for that!

What does an arm and a leg cost? In my area, the minimum would be 5000.00 and then you have to bring in food, alcohol, furniture, tableware, linens and staffing of course.

    1) Woo, I'm a tori too - I've never seen anyone else spell it with an I at the end - and I actually know four others, but they are Tory.

    2) There is literally no way for us to tell you that. You'll have to research it on your own, the vendor tab is really helpful for that Smiley smile I've booked all my vendors through WW with the exception of my HMUA!

Good thing, your wedding date is over a year away so you have time to do a lot of research! I suggest looking at all possible options, online & magazine search. Maybe check with family and friends in the area that have perhaps been to a wedding in the venue type you're searching for and go from there!

Oh wow, I thought barn weddings were typically budget. I had no idea they were so expensive Smiley surprise That's way more than the venues in the city for me quoted.

I think really depends on location, but also how established they are. A friend of mine got married in a gorgeous GA barn and was one of their first weddings. She paid about $2,500 to rent it and now it goes for over $7,000 just for the space.

I'm in Southern California. There aren't a ton of barns out here, but a new barn venue just opened up and it's about $20,000 for the rental, food, chairs, staff, and some flowers. You just have to bring in your own alcohol, but it was only BBQ for the food and we didn't care for that.

I'm strongly starting to rethink the barn venue LOL! Garden wedding venues here are just as expensive as the barns!

My venue is a barn in Lancaster, PA and it's costing $10,000 for the venue, tables and chairs for ceremony and reception, and places to get ready (plus an entire farmhouse for the day).

Everywhere we looked for a barn venue seemed to be in that price range. Since you're in a different location than I am I'd definitely suggest the vendor tab or rusticbride.com. If you find any places you like don't hesitate to email them asking for wedding package pricing!

It really depends. My venue is fully staffed, includes food, tables, linens, day of coordinator, use of bar and bartender. we have it for 13 hours also. it is costing around $17,000. that doesn't include photographer, dj, dessert, transportation, videographer.

Sometimes an all inclusive venue is the way to go. shop around.

So I'm here in middle Tennessee, and we are getting married in a barn. Our venue is costing us $5,000. However, since the barn was just built, we got a "groundbreaking special" and so many things were included in that. Tables, chairs, linens, plates and silverware, DOC, use of the barn for 13 hours. So many things that I know would have ran up our budget very quickly. It just made sense for us, and it ended up being cheaper than it would have been to rent a venue for $2500 and then have all those things cost more.

I would say your best bet is to start with your budget and find areas that are within that. Make sure you're paying attention to what's included in the price, and make sure you're comparing what those extras would cost without it being included.

Barn weddings are popular. Demand rose and so did prices.

I found my barn for a deal for my area- $3720 which includes both Friday and Saturday, table and chair rental, ceremony and reception space, indoor bathrooms, audio equipment rental, bride suite, partial kitchen, and bonfire. Another plus was the poured concrete floor- no dirt or circa 1880s wood for my elderly grandparents to trip over. All the other venues I found either cost more (like $6000 or so) or didn't include any rentals.

We got married in a barn in North East Ohio. We rented it for $300. We rented chairs and had our Dj do the ceremony. We also kept the decorations simple. The reception was held in a different building across the parking lot. Using the banquet center they handled the catering and such. It was around $5,000 for the banquet hall for 125 people with beer and wine. I would've never thought about it until DH went golfing and brought it to my attention since it's was on a golf course.

ETA: OP does any of the places you have looked at have catering included? Also, I know you said central Ohio but is there more so of a place you looking at? How far are you willing to travel?

Try looking at state parks! The park we're having ours at it a historic trail and state park so the pavillion is much like a barn, with an outdoor area for cocktail hour, and lawn for the ceremony. For half of Friday (RD) and all day Saturday, it's only 2500. (We're in MD).

Typically its going to be at least 5k for a barn venue.....research & consider traveling a little to expand your options. I don't mean hours away, but a good 45 minute radius could really open the list for you! What about covered bridges? I'm from Indiana & i know that we had a lot of historic covered bridges, which can also give a good rustic feel! Many of them are near an old mill which can often be used as a reception hall! Good luck!

My barn wedding venue is normally around $7000. The venue owner has bent over backwards to accommodate us and gave it to us for the price of a bridal shower since our party is less than 20 people. I just booked it 2.5 weeks ago when my other venue fell through. She's even leaving up the decorations from the wedding the night before!
