The shower was at a local country club and I KNOW the bride shouldn’t plan her own shower, but with SO many family/health issues going on, I did end up planning my own shower. It was definitely exhausting, but I was so happy to see my vision come to life.
We had 56 RSVP yes, but had a little over that show up thanks to 2 who showed up uninvited and one who RSVP’d no and showed up anyway causing a bit of a scene. But those are whole other stories that I cannot waste the time and energy getting into.
My absolute favorite gift came from my FH’s stepmom. It was a beautiful trunk filled with very sentimental items of something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. The first thing I saw when I opened the trunk was the bouquet charms (something old). Each side had a picture of my FH’s grandparents on their wedding days. I have a very special bond with his 2 grandparents that are still alive so I absolutely lost it and could not stop crying. There was also an additional charm so I could add my grandparent’s picture. The something blue was a beautiful stitched cloth with our initials and wedding date and which will be sewn into my dress. The something borrowed were headpieces from her wedding day. And the something new, which was a complete surprise, was my wedding veil! When I bought my dress, my FH’s dad & stepmom surprised me by buying my dream veil. I didn’t know it had come in!
The day flew by! I can’t even imagine how quick the wedding day will go by seeing how quick yesterday went! It all feels more real now and cannot wait for our wedding day to get here!
