Bathroom baskets...are they worth it?

Dex, on September 10, 2012 at 6:30 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 38

I am on the fence about doing bathroom baskets. My DOC said usually the women's basket is empty by the end of the night because they just take everything, and the guys basket is usually not even touched. I know if I don't have them it won't be a big deal, I mean it's not like people will be like, "it was such a beautiful event, but can you believe she didn't have bathroom baskets?!!" lol

So what's the consensus? Are you having bathroom baskets? If so what did you put in them and how much did they cost?

    Advil

    Baby Wipes

    Tampons

Thanks for this post -- I'm also trying to figure out whether to do bathroom baskets. If I were to include them, I'd probably put in everything that Amanda D lists -- plus some mints.

I think they are a nice touch. I put my mom in charge of putting ours together. Smiley smile We're doing a basket for men and women. She got:

    spray deodorant

    q-tips

    toothpicks

    safety pins

    travel sewing kits

    colgate wisps

    lotion

    advil

    tampons/pads

Among other items I can't remember.

    I don't think they're worth it but they're a nice touch.

Also, I'm not a germaphobe at all, but there's not way I would pick up most of those items in a random bathroom.

We didn't have them at our wedding because all of our guests just needed to walk a flight of stairs to get to their room.

I did bathroom boxes for Cate's wedding mainly because I think they are a nice touch. Are they necessary? Heck no! However, in the last ten years, all of the weddings we have attended has had them.

Re using them....The women's basket was barely touched....deodorant, Bath and Body Works stuff and hair spray was used. Actually the BBB stuff walked. In the Ladie's room, I also put out decorative soap/lotion. It was a Christmas gift and I would never use it at home.

Surprisingly, the men's basket was used and much of the things walked too. lolol Whatever was left over will not go to waste. We travel a lot so the stuff just went in to the travel bin.

I also put a jarred candle in their because the bathroom, while not really close to the main room, if someone blew it out, it could have wafted into the room.

I had never been to a wedding with them but decided to do them for ours. We had 4 sets of bathrooms and spent a lot of money doing them just for one of my aunts to get pissy with me and take everything out of the womens while my uncle took everythin out of the mens. When I found out at the end of the night I was pissed. But I did get a few compliments on them before she took off with everything. Given the chance I'd still do it again.

We didn't. In fact I never even saw the bathroom. thank god cause I never would have been able to use it by myself.

I just waited until the end of the night and H and I went our room. We were also in a hotel so the guests staying there could go to their room as well.

We won't be spending the money on them, out of the 10 + weddings I have been to I have never seen one done, so I just don't think they are done around my area

I did not have them since the little things do really add up in one's budget. Also some people are pretty particular about what kind of lotions, sprays, etc. they use anyways.

I'm doing them but just with the basics: some floss, lotion, body spray, lint roller, and a few tampons for the ladies

I don't know if my venue does these. I will have to check. If they don't then I will do a small one for the women's bathroom.

I dont think they are worth it myself, all of the ladies i know carry that kind of stuff in their purses. Im the only woman i know over 20 years old that carries a small purse, and even i carry spare pads and breath mints. I will have a small box for the bridal party with some of that stuff in it that i will leave in the dressing room, but not for the guests because i know they wont use it.

We are having those with similar things that the ladies have already mentioned. We are definitely not spending alot of money on them though. Dollar tree and other various sale items have really helped us make them.
