Bathroom baskets...are they worth it?

I am on the fence about doing bathroom baskets. My DOC said usually the women's basket is empty by the end of the night because they just take everything, and the guys basket is usually not even touched. I know if I don't have them it won't be a big deal, I mean it's not like people will be like,...

My DOC said usually the women's basket is empty by the end of the night because they just take everything, and the guys basket is usually not even touched. I know if I don't have them it won't be a big deal, I mean it's not like people will be like, "it was such a beautiful event, but can you believe she didn't have bathroom baskets?!!" lol

So what's the consensus? Are you having bathroom baskets? If so what did you put in them and how much did they cost?

I'm doing them. Like most of the ladies have mentioned...we hit up the Dollar Stores. The containers we're using are those black plastic cauldron things for trick or treat candy..which are $1 themselves.

Will the stuff "walk"? Probably, but I thought they were a nice touch for very little money. We have one for each bathroom, with the same or similar items for men and women. (ie air freshener for both, same scent....tresseme hair spray for the ladies, axe hair gel for the men)

I'm doing a basic one to put just outside the restrooms, and then putting a few women's toiletries inside the actual bathrooms. We have the whole place to ourselves, but with plenty of people staying there, I don't think I'll need much. I'll have some hairspray, bobby pins and safety pins (because I already have stacks of those), a Tide pen, a lint brush, some floss picks (have some of those, too) and some unscented lotion. Beyond that, I think most people will live.

Cost? Maybe $10? Got a basket from Dollar Tree, lint brush, hair spray and lotion will come from there, and Tide pen was bought with a coupon.

I was wondering about this topic, I am still on the fence with this one. The venue has a really nice bathroom and I was actually thinking of putting some flowers or candles in there....not sure about the basket just yet.

I will say, if the bathrooms are shared, don't do a basket. Like I said, we have the whole place to ourselves, so there's no concern of random strangers using the stuff. And I certainly wouldn't spend a lot on it. My max would be $15-20, but I'm not even spending half of that.

I made a very simple one for the ladies' room:

    Tampons

    Pantiliners

    Mints

    Colgate Wisps

    Hand lotion

    Bandaids

It might have been $10 or $15 and it took me about 10 minutes to pick up the stuff at Walmart and put it together.

Totally not necessary, just nice. I'm usually really prepared, but not perfect, so I've been appreciative of the free tampon before. Smiley smile I do think some of the really detailed baskets have more stuff in them than I even have in my house, and that's kinda nuts. If someone needs to fix a hem, brush their teeth, remove a stain, fix their pantyhose, bandage a blister and redo their hair, it's probably time for them to go home. Smiley smile

Our venue was private but IDK, I feel like if the basket walks away, NBD. You're setting it out for people's comfort. If someone is crazy enough to dump a basket of random toiletries in their purse, I figure they need it more than I do. Smiley smile

There are separate mens/ladies bathrooms and we will have the venue to ourselves. Maybe I should just break down and do a small one for the women. Maybe a bottle of listerine and Dixie cups for the guys. Lol

I might make a couple with some aspirin, body spray, and bobby pins. As for the rest of that stuff, I'm not providing spray on deodorant for anyone. They can bring a travel stick with them if they are that worried about it. Honestly, I wouldn't spend a ton of money on them just because you don't know if you're going to get it back at the end of the night. Good luck with this though!

Haha! Well as long as you're doing it together it's a HM activity. Smiley smile

I love football but I hate football season. I'm a football widow. H is obsessed. Literally from August to March he talks of nothing else and he wears Chicago Bears jerseys every day. Le sigh.

I need to find a really intense hobby. Smiley smile

I really wish we had a private venue so I could do bathroom baskets. I think it is a nice touch. Our reception is a hotel that has 3 ballrooms. Although we are the only wedding that evening, we do share a large bathroom with the other events going on that night.

By the time I got within 6 weeks of the wedding, I had so many little details dancing around in my head, that I wasn't going to add something else to my plate!

I didn't have any bathroom baskets, and I don't think it was an issue. However, since my venue was outside I did have sunblock and bug spray available at the Guest Book table where people were entering the area and mingling and chatting.

    OH...the bathroom...lol.

Never thought about it...lets see my venue has 6 bathrooms...so I doubt I will do anything like that unless I pick a bathroom I think they will hit first.

I think it is cute, but not required and it can be a cost that you can put towards something else. I wont really be doing one due to the fact it is a shared bathroom with the venue's pool etc. So if i were doing one it would be out of the bridal emergency kit hidden under a table or something.

Lol @diane I was like she REALLY wants her guests to drink. Smiley smile

Maybe I will hit up dollar tree and walmart to see what I can throw together. I'm thinking:

    dental flossers

    mints

    tampons

    pantiliners

    emergency sewing kit

    hand lotion

    tide stick

    Hair spray

    Band-aids

I don't trust everyone in my family to not walk off with stuff and I'm not buying anything for them to walk off with, so yeah. Not doing it. But I'm sure FH's family would appreciate it if I did. I have a while, I may change my mind.

We are doing them. We have a private venue so that helps. We have one for the mens and one for the ladies. Actually I put my FH in charge of them and he did a fantastic job. It's funny because I've always had a "guest basket" at my house for years. So if someone comes for an overnight stay (or longer) I always pull out the basket and it's theirs to use for as long as their stay. I refill/replace as necessary. I work for an airline and travel often so I tend to pick up alot of travel items from that, so it works well for me. Also I find alot of travel items at Target and sometimes their cost is less than Dollar store. I went to a wedding out of town a few months ago and they had bathroom baskets and we were grateful because they had tums & prilosec in them, both of which my FH desperately needed that night and we forgot to pack.
