We rented a beach house in Virginia Beach for our ceremony and reception. We can hold the ceremony (about 20 min long) on the actual sand (right in front of the house over a sand dune) or on an outdoor balcony overlooking the beach. The only problem is the balcony is small, so it would be standing room only for our 50 guests. I keep thinking the balcony is better because people won't get sandy and it might be easier to hear the ceremony. But I'm torn because it would be nice to let our guests sit down.
