Beach house or resort???

Jenna, on January 18, 2019 at 11:40 PM Posted in Planning 1 5
Im looking into a destination wedding. My fiancé and I will be traveling down to myrtle beach March 23-27 to look at venues. The venues we are looking holds the ceremony and a reception. The reception will have DJ, food, open bar. Several family memebers mentioned everyone renting one big beach house. Their idea is to have the wedding right on the beach then go back to the housr and have dinner. I'm not hating the idea but not sold. I want thoughts on if you did a beach house did it still feel like a wedding? Did the beach house save any momey? Did you wish you did the wedding at a resort? Any feedback is great!!!

I'll be attending one just like you're describing this coming Easter weekend, near Myrtle beach for my cousin. Will post up any takeaways afterwards!
I have been to my brothers wedding in Hawaii where they rented a villa out and had the ceremony steps from the beach and had a tent for the reception. There were only about 40 people and it felt more traditional than renting a beach house.
It truly depends on what kind of wedding you want! If it's casual and intimate I think the beach house will be perfect. If you and your signicant other prefer something more glamorous.
Whatever you do opt for a warmer month. When we go to the upcoming wedding the lows are 45 so not stoked about that, but it'll be awesome nevertheless.
Weddings can be what you and your significant other wants. We had a daytime brunch wedding that began at 11am, it was casual but a complete celebration of our love in every way. Love takes many shapes and forms and however it manifests should be a representation of the two of you.
You can hear what others are saying and suggest but think about what really encapsulated your style and go from there!

Another couple here had a gorgeous beach house wedding (she wore a gold dress and their geometric arch was amazing). But I think it’s a more mellow vibe. If you want the resort wedding, why can’t your family still rent the house to save money then go to the resort for your wedding (you, your FH’s family & friends can stay there)? My family rented a huge house at our DW and hosted a “welcome BBQ” the night before our wedding for everyone and it was fantastic. My hubby & I stayed at the resort along with a few friends and my hubby’s brother. Everyone stayed where they wanted.

I’ve never been to a beach wedding as a guest but i have played violin at several that are what you’re describing and they were gorgeous, definitely felt very wedding-y. It didn’t feel like I was just at a house party or family vacation.

    Hey Jenna!

I totally agree with Peggy! My aunt and uncle got married in the backyard of a large house on the beach in the Outer Banks and it was very elegant! It didn't feel like a backyard wedding at all. They definitely made it their own and made it feel very romantic! I think they rented the house with several of our family members and split the cost! So in the end they were able to save a bit of money on the venue!

I'd just double check with neighbors/the town about noise and parking Smiley smile

We are getting married next September in myrtle beach. And that is excatly how we are doing it. We are paying for a house big enough for the immediate family to stay in. And our few other guest are getting hotels near by. Were going to have the ceremony on the beach and do the reception at the house. I think it's a great money saving idea. And totally makes for a fun more intimate wedding experience
