Beach wedding: aisle runner or no? Beach ladies, show me your ceremony set up!

Laura, on October 30, 2013 at 6:06 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

I can't decide whether or not we should have an aisle runner for our beach ceremony. Everyone will be wearing shoes so I was thinking it would help with balance and minimizing sand everywhere, but I really want to play on the beauty of the beach with a simple set up and I don't want to make it look to artificial. I've seen pictures of ceremonies with and without the runner and can't make up my mind either way. Does anyone have any pictures from their ceremony they can share? I was thinking of ordering 6 of these and sewing them together. http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/browse/processRequest.do?requestURI=processProductsCatalog&categoryId=377320&sku=34/507&BP=10879&ms=search&source=google&cm_mmc=google-_-PLA-_-34/507-_-productads-plaid^39338828648-sku^34/507-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^16147151168&gclid=CN3B28_-0LkCFUed4AodMUcAEQ&kwid=productads-plaid^39338828648-sku^34/507-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^16147151168

What do you think?

I don't know if it's just an extra expense/ DIY hassle!

I wonder what the chances are of a spike heel getting stuck in it? With sand under, do you think someone might poke through?

It's a neat idea, order and do a test-run maybe

I'm on my phone so I can't post a picture, but maybe you can see it in my profile pic. We had a beach wedding and the hotel provided a bamboo type runner. We had no issues with it. I think most people know not to wear spike heels to a beach wedding, but if they do, we offered a basket so guests could take their shoes off.

Ditto to Betho. That was going to be my response. And if it's not heavy enough would it blow around and thus blowing sand at everyone?

I got married on the beach so I could walk barefoot in sand. We had flower petals in the isle. I thought about an isle runner but decided it wasn't worth the hassle/expense either Smiley smile

I officiated a beach wedding on Sat. Believe it or not, there were women in heels and HOSE!

The bamboo runners would work better than the paper runners (there's always a breeze on the beach that catches the paper runners). A carpet runner looks rather silly on a beach.

After officiating almost 1,000 beach weddings, I recommend no runner.

I would also be afraid of it blowing all over the place.

Thank you all for your input. I think I'll save the time and money and just forgo it.
