Beach Wedding attire

Krista, on September 30, 2017 at 3:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hi! We're getting married in Mexico in May and I'm having a hard time coming up with the wording to describe the attire we'd prefer. Even though we are getting married AT the beach we are not getting married ON the beach. Our ceremony will be on a covered pier over looking the water and the reception will be by a pool under a thatched roof pavilion. I would prefer guests to dress more on the semi-formal side (men- dress pants and a collared shirt and women- cocktail/summer dress and dressy sandals). I'm not sure how I can properly word it so that people aren't both under dressed or over.

Thank you!

Just spread it through word of mouth. We're getting married on the beach with an indoors reception and Pretty much all of our guests that have rsvped have asked what they should wear to the wedding.

Other than black tie, it is considered rude to include any sort of dress code on an invitation. It implies that without your guidance, your guests are too stupid to figure out how to dress themselves.

Rather than struggle to come up with a term, just give your guests the information you gave us, on your website.

"Our ceremony will be on a covered pier over looking the water followed by a semi-formal reception by a pool under a thatched roof pavilion."

You slip in your desire for semi formal dress without coming across as some sort of dress dictator.

I wouldn't put anything on the invitation, but I'd definitely prepare a response because people will probably ask you.

I'm getting married on the beach in Cabo and this is what I use

"For the wedding, we suggest Beach Chic attire. This includes sundresses or cocktail dresses for women and slacks with a polo or button-down shirt for men. The ceremony will be held on the beach, so feel free to remove your shoes!"

There was another thread about a couple that put beach formal and some chick showed up in a bikini top and skirt. So, that term is clearly confusing to some. Agree with PPs to leave that term off the invite.

I mean it's a wedding. Most people know how to dress themselves for a wedding. i don't understand people concerning themselves with what their guests are going to wear. Maybe I'm wrong. ETA beach formal doesn't mean anything to me. I wouldn't put that

    "Beach formal" means nothing.
