Beach Wedding- Welcome Bags

Deanna, on April 11, 2017 at 4:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

Have any of you done welcome bags for your guests for a destination wedding? If so where did you find your bags!? I'm looking for 40-50 in bulk. Also what else did you put in them and how much was your total on them?

I really want to do these but I'm not sure how they will work with our budget.

We did that. We made our own. However, I would suggest against it. We put things in them that were very practical and most of the people said they didn't even use it nor did they take it with them home. If I were to do this again, I wouldn't do it.

Elizabeth, what did you put in them if you don't mind me asking?

We skipped this for our beach wedding, and we had a lot of OOT guests. It just seemed like one of those unnecessary costs that we could use the money towards other more important things.

But if you do decide to do this, I'd suggest mini sunscreen, water bottles, snacks, a piece of fruit, maybe a local gift (like a magnet or something), a map of the area with a print out of things to do - things like that.

We did this for our DW. We had tote bags we got from Dollar Tree. In them we had trail mix, chips, candy, personalized University of Maryland cookies, sunglasses, a fan, sunscreen, a deck of cards, personalized chap stick, water, personalized m&ms. I think that was it...

No clue how much it came out to because I bought everything over a 6 month period and some things we donated by FMIL.

We put in sunscreen, water, green goop for when you burn, information about the area and activities, tylenol and Aleve, those kind of things. I wouldn't recommend it at all. It was not sure expensive but not super cheap either. It's just one of those costs to avoid if you can.

I'm having a DW at the beach. I haven't decided on everything for the bags yet, but based on other sites, I've seen that tote bags, hangover kits, and puzzle books (crossword, sudoku, word search, etc) are popular with guests.

I had a similar thread and after that I decided to save the money and invest on something else (DJ seems like)... do a little research into it, a lot of people advise against. If you still has your heart set on it everything PP said applied to your bag.

I mainly want these for one reason- to include a list of things to do in the area. (It be a DW for a lot of my family so I was just gonna put little bags in their rooms). Not sure what else, maybe snacks or water.

Brown paper gift bags, get stickers made with your names/date/welcome message? Put them on bags. You can actually get the bags cheap at webstaurant.com (actually take out bags but look like brown gift bags) get your own label/stickers at Walmart and create and print yourself. Or get a stamp from vistaprint and stamp each bag. I would say def do this, the guests tend to forget necessities when they travel Smiley smile it's appreciated for sure!
