Beauty budget!

Amelia, on September 19, 2018 at 3:09 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 23
I’m just curious, what are yall’s beauty budgets for pampering? I’m wanting to go the whole 9 years for my pampering and get the full treatment since this is probably the only opportunity in my life to go crazy doing all the beauty stuff. My fiancé thinks it’s insane that I’ve budgeted $600 for ALL my pampering leading up to the wedding (facial, massage, full body waxing, hair cut and color, tanning, and manicure/pedicure), but the thing is I’m not taking any of that money out of our wedding budget that we have been saving together (I’d never be that selfish). So I am saving for my own pampering budget on top of my monthly savings for the wedding as well as a separate savings for his wedding day gift from me, so please don’t comment about how selfish I am or anything. Everyone chooses to spend their money differently so don’t be judging. I’d just like to know what your pre-wedding pampering plans are and your budgets for them!

I definitely will be doing hair and makeup which with my trials cost $160.00. Then a cut and color which will be $90 and trial and day of nails for $50 and then eyebrow waxing for $15. I won’t be tanning because I feel like I’d look weird tan at a December wedding and I’m not into any other waxing. So the grand total is $315. I got a deal on my nails since my MOH is a nail tech so that would have been an additional $50. I don’t think $600 is too far fetched with additional services Smiley smile

If you're spending your own money, go for it! Do whatever makes you feel good Smiley smile I'm probably going to be getting my haircut for about $70 and spending around $100 to get a leg/eyebrow wax (but I obviously get my haircut anyway and I already have waxing appointments once a month so those things aren't really "extra" for me) and then I am splurging on a gel manicure for about $50 because I want it to last throughout the honeymoon too. I felt a little guilty about that but I NEVER get my nails done, so it'll be a nice treat!

I lucked out that one of my bridesmaids is a professional hair stylist and makeup artist. I'd be spending a lot more if I didn't have her!

Enjoy yourself! But if you’ve never had a wax, facial or you don’t go tanning make sure you do it weeks before. You don’t know what your reactions will be to new stuff! I will probably be spending close to the same amount so don’t feel bad Smiley smile

Yeah it sounds a little weird to get a tan in December but I am more pale than a piece of paper and I have permanent redness from being sunburnt so much so I wanted to get it done just to even out my skin tone and look not so washed out in my pictures.

Thanks for the advice! Yeah I actually just started getting facials (3 months before my wedding) so I can make sure my skin won’t react weird, and I’ve been waxed before (but not a full body so THAT will be interesting haha).

Enjoy it girl! No shame in wanting to be pampered if you can afford it. I spent $100 on tanning, $50 on my hair cut (no color), and $50 on my waxing. My mom paid for my mani/pedi but that would have been an extra $70. My hair and makeup day of cost $420 (including tip) so I totally understand the splurge!

My FH is paying for our wedding himself. He is a saint. And the one thing we did not budget or factor in to our wedding budget was my beauty. I'm a bit high maintenance and to be honest he loves it. So he has stated that my beauty will just be paid for as I go. And $600 is nothing near what I spend a month on beauty. So as far as your own budget I do not think that it is too much. Especially if you are paying for yourself and splurging on you!

No judgement whatsoever but where the heck do you go that costs $100 for a tan? Mine costs $35. Am I doing something wrong? Haha

Enjoy it and don't feel guilty! I'm pretty sure I spent in the neighborhood of $600 for my hair, make up, trial for both, and Mani/pedi: gel nails, regular toes (plus tip). Granted this was in Breckenridge so it's touristy and expensive. My trial cost the same as my day of plus I bought the $30 lip stain she used lol

I would totally be spending more if it weren’t for my aunt who is paying for my makeup!

I'll be spending about $16 a month on a gym membership to work out and tan for free. Probably get in the tanning bed once a week for 2-3 months leading up to the wedding.

My nails will be about $100 for fingers and toes!

I also plan to get lash extensions instead of messing around with fake lashes. This will be about $160.

Skipping the massage and waiting to get one on the honeymoon! Also skipping a facial because I have very clear skin and I don't want to do any kind of facial that will make it break out or "disrupt" it.

So basically tan, nails, lashes for me!

I also spent $100 on tanning but that was 6 sessions and I just did that the month leading up to the wedding. Normally I'd do a 30 day unlimited but I started too late and wouldn't use the whole thing.

Amelia, I don't think $600 is too much at all! Most couples spend between $150-600 on beauty for the big day! I will be doing the same thing as you for my big day, I already love pampering myself (waxing, nails, etc) so I already know I need to budget for that! Are you doing spray tanning or in the beds? We have a great cost guide on hair and makeup that I thought I would link below for you, it has the averages and more info on it!

Thank you Kelly! I am opting for a spray tan. I don’t feel the need to be tan all the time so something temporary is good for me

Hair & Makeup on our wedding day for me is $210. Starting 6 months prior, I'll get monthly facials from $90-$150. I use ovation cell therapy on my hair ($50 a month for 10 months, not including leave in conditioners or masks) and bought 2 silk pillowcases ($20 each). I'll get my nails done, $50, my toenails done, $30. I'll tan for the month prior, $70 (not including tanning lotion, probably another $50). I'm considering getting a lash tint & lift (I don't like extensions), $100. And I'm getting hair extensions, $200. That doesn't include my hair cuts, other at home skin products or hair products. We are also getting a couple's massage 2 days before the wedding. So for the final 10 months of our engagement, I'll spend at minimum $1,250. That doesn't include the fitness classes I'm doing or the fact I get my nails done monthly anyway. I think it really just depends on what you want to do, and if you can afford it. If you can, go for it!
