Beauty Expenses

What did you do and spend money on to look your best for your wedding? Facials? Microdermabrasion? Eyelashes? Hair extensions? Personal trainer? Skincare? Micro needling? Botox?

I'm just trying to anticipate costs/needs/value!

I would budget for nails, hair and makeup for your engagement shoot. I didn't even think about it. If you can schedule your trials for that time, even better.

I have a professional gym included with my apartment complex but if you don't I totally see the value in a gym membership with classes or sessions with a trainer or nutritionist.

I plan on getting at least one massage before the wedding but I wouldn't try any new facial/botox/micro anything if I didn't already know how my skin would react. Don't try anything new 4 months out from your day.

Eyelashes come with my bridal makeup package. If yours doesn't some salons do them for as low as $10.

I'm just doing/did nails and brows (engagement shoot, shower, and wedding), professional hair and makeup (engagement photos, shower, and the wedding), spray tan (shower and wedding, I was already tan for our engagement photos since it was mid July), and I do the Crest white strips for my teeth like once every six months. My makeup artist includes lashes so I didn't need to account extra for those. I luckily naturally have really good skin and I'm only 23 (going on 24 lol) so I'm not doing anything special/different just sticking to my normal routine. I have naturally super long, thick hair so no extensions for me either.

Setting up makeup and hair trials on the day of the engagement shoot is a fantastic idea. Saves some money and effort that way.

I would also agree to not try new skin procedures too close to the wedding. Don't do anything you don't know the outcome of personally. The last thing I'd want is a major skin reaction to something that I thought would be helpful and then have to have it in pictures.

My beauty plan will include waxing, tanning (don't freak out people I am talking about spray tanning), nails, crest white strips, hair extensions and I have been doing the Beach Body program for exercise and am feeling fantastic!

I am not deviating too far from my normal routine now that I think about it, except for the white strips. Maybe I will throw in a massage prior to the big day!

I tried a hydrofacial, signature facial, microdermabrasion, and microneedling. I'll do a chemical peel & dermaplaning & a lash lift & botox in the upcoming months. It really depends on what you want to achieve with your skin. I wanted to get rid of "pitting" and acne scarring and uneven skin tone, so microneedling mixed with a chemical peel makes the most sense. My acne wasn't super bad, so regular facials weren't as beneficial (I started eating healthier & taking vitamins for my skin which really helped). The dermaplaning I'll do right before, to help with my makeup application. The botox I'll do in my forehead, I have a few lines I don't want for the wedding. And the lash lift & tint will be nice for the RD & honeymoon but I'll wear fake lashes on the wedding day anyway, I don't like lash extensions. I ordered hair extensions from Milk & Blush (right around $260) and I LOVE them and can't wait to wear them on my wedding day. They are clip in, I wash my hair everyday so sewn in or fuse in ones wouldn't work for me. I got a gym membership but didn't use a personal trainer.

I agree with this! I'd try stuff starting in November 2019 but not 1-3 months prior if you haven't already done it. The only thing I'll be doing that I haven't done before is a lash lift & tint and microplaning, but I've had similar things done so I'm confident my body will be okay.

I was planning to do a facial but instead I ended up just doing a face mask per week. Which is around $1 or less each. And then I bought a pack of those whitening strips to brighten my teeth which was around $20. I've never gotten my nails done but my bridesmaid wanted to treat me to it.

I will get my hair and makeup professionally done day of. I also need to do a touch up of my highlights and a trim, which I plan to do a few weeks before the wedding (this is standard, but I decided to hold off do the highlights are fresh for the wedding day). I plan to get a gel manicure and regular pedicure week of. I'm not doing anything crazy. I want to look like the best version of myself, but I want to look like myself.

I think this is entirely up to the person, do what is best for you to feel your best! Smiley smile
I'm getting my hair and makeup professionally done. I'll have my nails professionally done, too. I went to a dermatologist (unrelated to wedding, before I got engaged) but it was something I'm glad I did as she could answer a lot of skin care concerns and such. Seeing one is nice if you can afford it or insurance covers it and you have skin concerns- which I only mention cause you brought up several things they do in dermatology offices.
I've also started to make myself put on sunblock EVERY. DAY. Again, not really weeding related per say but I live in AZ and we have A LOT of sun and it's something I've always told myself I need to be better about + helps my skin and complexion.
OH. Teeth whitening, too! I'm very self conscious of my teeth and I know it will help me not try and hide my smile on what will be one of the happiest days of my life. Important: if you want to do this and never have, I highly recommend trying it 1 to 3 months prior. Sometimes it takes multiple sessions and you need time in between. More importantly, though, is it can leave you with very sore or irritated teeth/gums and you don't want to do it the day before or anything and have horrible pain at your wedding!
However, getting married has given me the opportunity/push to really consider doing things I always wanted to but was either afraid to do or let go of doing. So, I got lasik eye surgery recently to no longer deal with glasses! I can now see him as I walk down the aisle without my glasses. I'll also be getting one more thing done.
Lol writing it all out it, it sounds like a lot.. 😂😅
