Beauty Tips

Brittany, on October 10, 2019 at 3:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Ok ladies, everyone wants to look their best on the big day!! What are some secrets you like to share? Did you find a great self tanner or anti wrinkle cream? Did you follow a special diet plan to get fit and make your skin glow? Someone told me they now make under eye cream that will reduce bags and dark circles for 24 hours.

Also what did you try that did not work? What would you not recommend?

I did a face mask every week leading up to my wedding day for about a month

I used this self tanning lotion for my pasty legs before our engagement photos lol! It was less than $5 at the grocery store, a little pricier on Amazon. I used the medium to tan just to make sure I got results in a week and I applied it each morning and night. It's not streaky or orangey and it also smells AMAZING! Highly recommend (I did use a tanning lotion mitt to apply because I didn't want to risk staining my hands, super cheap on Amazon) Smiley smile

I also used that jergens self tan lotion but mixed it with my regular body lotion and just used for longer because sometimes in gets streaky.

vitamin C serum really helps brighten and even skin tone, my favorite is https://www.farmacybeauty.com/collections/frontpage/products/very-cherry-bright-15-vitamin-c-serum

I also use this exfoliant serum about once per week and as a spot treatment as needed: https://www.farmacybeauty.com/collections/all-products/products/honeymoon-glow

I use this face wash and it has really improved my skin texture over the last couple months: https://www.farmacybeauty.com/collections/all-products/products/clean-bee

Definitely need moisturizer and I use either Aveeno "Positively radiant" or "ultra calming" line. Spf in the morning, night cream in the evening. I just use the night cream around my eyes.

I've also found that a jade roller really helps with any redness or inflamation. I got mine on amazon for about ~$10.

I first used an eyeshadow primer for my wedding and HOLY COW it helped so much! I used a $6 one from NYX, I wish I had it on me so I could give you the exact one but my shadow stayed and didn't crease all day! It's a little tough to get off, but I just have to actually wipe my eyes instead of barely dab them now.

Drinking a ton of water, my skin is so soft and glowing. And of course I feel so much better. It's the easiest thing to do, and you'll be surprised at the difference it makes. I also love Jergens and St. Ives lotions.

I cut out soda, desserts, and coffee creamer. I basically just drank water 24/7 and 1 cup of black coffee per day. We started eating healthier, not a specific diet but just healthier. I had a pretty strict skincare routine of daily cleansing, toning, serums & scrubs/masks once a week. I never wear makeup so that was helpful for not clogging my pores. I also got things like facials, microneedling, etc. I use hyarulonic acid serum on my face everyday and it's super helpful, in addition to an eye cream & face lotion. I slept on a silk pillowcase, washed our sheets weekly, changed my bath towel daily, and disinfected my phone weekly. For nails & skin, I used a cuticle cream & hand cream everyday. For my hair, I used ovation cell therapy, a heat protectant, and dried my hair as little as possible. I was also taking a biotin w/ collagen supplement.

Wow, you really went all out lol I never thought of changing sheets and bath towels more often! What is microneedling? I'm not really up on all that, I have never even had a facial. Although I think I may try a facial to see how I like it and if it helps my skin. I have very sensitive and oily skin so facials worry me a little.

Thank you so much for sharing your beauty secrets! I will definitely have to check out that jade roller because I do get patches of red on my face from time to time.

I really did haha! I don't take a ton of care of my skin/hair normally so I wanted to for the wedding for sure. And I never wear makeup so I thought skincare would make me super happy on the day of. Microneedling is the insertion of very fine short needles into the skin for the purposes of rejuvenation. It doesn't hurt (it sounds like it would) but it made a TON of acne scarring & pitting in my face go away. I hadn't done it prior, but I met with a great medical spa facility and developed a 6 month plan for skincare. I would try a facial, they have ones specifically for sensitive & oily skin! Then follow up with a skincare routine at home.

Definitely something to look into. I'm getting married next October, so I figured after the holidays I'll start making a game plan for my skin lol
