Bed Bath & Beyond registry, and where else is good?

I feel like I've been posting a lot of questions lately. FH and I are going to take a day in Jan and get our registry started. I know we're doing Bed Bath & Beyond. What was the process like to set it up? Did you make an appointment? How long did it take? Also, what are some other good places to...

We did BBB and Crate and Barrel. We made an appointment at BBB and also had their specialist help us. He was actually really helpful and seemed knowledgeable. He walked us around the registry section (dinnerware, etc.) and the rest of the store. I do agree with a PP that we did register for things we didn't want (mostly FH didn't want) but we just updated the registry when we got home. It wasn't a big deal.

At CB we went to a registry event and no one walked us around the store but you could ask an employee for help or expertise if you wanted it. They were not overbearing. I did like the registry event here because they offered prizes and (most importantly) snacks.

Both have some sort of completion event/percent off card so you can finish buying items on your registry. I don't know about CB but at BBB's completion event you can even buy items not on your registry with the discount.

We started our registry at BBB earlier this month. We met with an associate and they walked us though the store explaining things and making suggestions. We were there for a few hours.

We also registered at Macy's. The associate at Macy's gave us an overview, handed us the scan gun and we went about our business. They checked in to see if we had questions occasionally which was nice. One of the things I liked about Macy's over BBB is the Registry Star Rewards program. We earn a certain % back in the form of a gift card.

Finally, we also registered on Amazon.

We made an appointment, but we did some of it online and then went in person. Honestly, I found the lady to be annoying and I think I would rather do it online and then just go see the few things we needed to see in person. I felt the in person process took way longer than it needed to because she went down every aisle, but then would go back if we forgot something we actually needed. We also didn't get any of the free stuff we were supposed to get which was the whole point of going in person.

We have an amazon one too, where you can add things from other stores, so there's really not much need for any others between the 2.

I think you might want to wait a bit to start your registry. You still have 10 months to go. I highly recommend Amazon.com. You have such a wide variety of items to choose from and returns are very easy.

I did Amazon and Target because I knew if I got an abundance of gift cards to both places I could use it for other things. I would wait to register. I registered 9 months in advance and had to edit them many times because things would no longer be available or out of stock.

We did BBB and Target -- sadly, we don't have a Crate and Barrel here Smiley sad Certain things I wanted to see in person before adding them to the registry -- I'm picky about my towels. Other things were easy to add later online.
