Best and worst expenses

Married ladies: what was the best thing you purchased/included that was inexpensive compared to the rest? Also on the flip side, what was the worst expensive purchase/idea?

Ok so not married yet, but I'd say my cheapest, favourite purchase so far has been the vinyl letters and cheap champagne glasses I bought. My sister's wedding, as we were getting ready, we didn't have any names on the glasses and it ended up being super hard to tell whose glass belonged to whom, since people put them down and wandered off so often.

The end result is super cute, cost me under $30 for 10 glasses, and I know from experience it will be useful.

My least favourite purchase so far? Hard to say. I LOVE the shoes I bought and have wanted them for a long time for sentimental reasons. They're beautiful shoes and I anticipate wearing them a lot after the day too, since they're nude. Buuut... they're very, very thin stilettos which is pretty inconvenient for our outdoor ceremony, and the photographs afterward. They're also super expensive, and I kind of wish I'd bought some cheaper shoes instead that would be more comfortable and that I wouldn't have to worry about, you know? Especially since no one will really see them with the size of my dress.

Oh, I got my dress at a sample sale for 10% of retail.

So... yeah, that kind of wins.

I guess my least favorite thing was buying stamps, because our invites were a weird weight and we had to put like... 3 stamps on each envelope! It took a long time and was a pain.

My wedding dress was a prom dress that i got for under $30

hmmmm least favorite thing ... candy buffet table. i mean i actually spent not that much on it and i got really good name brand candy. my regret is that no one really took any candy. what the heck? haha so then it's like what was the point of me having it, right?

I got all of my flowers which included (see below) for under $900

10 centerpieces in golden wooden boxes

    1 arch

2 alter pieces that were huge on high gold sparkly pillar type holders.

1 bouquet with crystals in the my flowers

    2 corsages and 5 boutonnieres

My flowers consisted of white and pink roses, white hydrangeas, pink and white peonies and baby's breath with greenery.

Every other Vendor we talked to was looking at charging us in the $3,000 range for the same or less. She had her shop closed down and was working from home, she came to meet us and brought buckets of flowers and built us the centerpieces we wanted right in front of our eyes. She came to the venue and decorated absolutely everything by herself and even stayed to photograph me as I walked down.

Least Favorite: My husband ordered these expensive cigars for whoever wanted to have a celebratory smoke, we were so busy having fun with our guests that we forgot them and all of them stayed nicely tucked away in the box. He ended up giving them away to his co-workers and friends after the wedding.

Most expensive, but completely worth it, were our venue, my dress, and our videographers.

Least expensive and worth it were the small jars of M&M's we added to tables. Both of our fist names start with M so people refer to us as M&M. It was a fun thing to add. Also, adding additional glassware so guests did not have to drink out of beer bottles or cans! Not very expensive and worth every penny to not have to see been cans/bottles in my wedding photos!
