Best at-home face mask for night before wedding?

Summer, on May 1, 2018 at 3:45 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 15

What's the best you've tried? I'm starting to experiment with some different products and regimens so I'll have my routine locked down for the nights leading up to the wedding - any product recommendations and/or advice? I have very delicate, allergy-prone skin, so clean and hypoallergenic is key too!

Thanks

I've been using the Aztec Clay Mud Mask off amazon and its been doing wonders for keeping my skin clear. I have very acne prone skin but it seems to clear it up overnight!

What is your skin type? You could double mask. Do a charcoal/mud mask first, then follow up with a hydrating/soothing one.

I have combination skin and also depends on season - in August I probably won't be struggling with dry skin, but may have trouble with oiliness and then there's always room for acne lol.

Are you supposed to do both masks in the same night?

Daily routine is less intense of course, but if i'm doing a full-blown skin care evening I liked to do the following:

-cleanse with Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil (this is a bit pricey, but the bottle lasts several months so its worth it for me - best alternative I've found that is much cheaper but still washes away clean is the Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil) this stuff takes off makeup and grime so well, and is very gentle, it is probably my #1 recommendation

    - do a second cleanser, which one varies depending on how my skin is acting lately, for a gentle option I love the First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay

-step 3 I will usually do a nose strip

-next I'll do a clay mask, theres a few I like, a good one for breakouts is the Out of Trouble mask by Origins, I also like their Rose Clay one, and I like a couple different ones from Lush, and just the Sephora brand ones that I've tried. I do like to go for one that has some exfoliation, partly because they are easier to wash off.

-after the clay mask I will do a sheet mask, you can get these all over, but my favorite brand is Karuna, I love the Clarifying one in particular, but that have ones that will target different things depending on what you're looking for.

-moisturize, my current go-to is the Too Cool for School Egg Mellow Cream, but this might be too heavy for you if you're prone to oiliness

If its more of a regular day, but I am still doing a full routine and not being lazy, I will do the first 2 steps above (sometimes first 3 steps) then:

-instead of the masks, I will do a toner (I've been doing Thayer's Witch Hazel Lavender), just put some on a cotton ball and wipe over face

    -moisturize as before

*also sometimes in addition to either of these routines I might add in an eye cream, or add in a lip mask (sheet or leave-on), or a acne spot treatment if I have a rogue blemish, whatever fits the current skin needs Smiley smile

Don't do anything different or intense the week of your wedding, there is too much of a chance of a bad reaction

I love my loreal face wash and mask. My face is very sensitive and I have had issues with either of them!

That's why I'm trying out products now, 3 months away.

The Aztec clay mask is popular and does a great job. My personal favorite is the Dead Sea mask (both can be found on Amazon) because it hydrates my skin and doesn't make me burn or itch. If you're looking for a totally at home DIY mask, coconut oil and tree tea oil does wonders.

I have very sensitive skin too. I swear by the DHC alpha Arbutin white mask- you’ll look refreshed and it evens skin tone. I always do it before a special event.

It seems a lot of these comments are more recommendations for a skincare routine than answering the question posed in the headline. I do agree with one PP that you should not do anything different or intense in the week or two leading up, so I would absolutely star clear of any type of clay mask (this will draw out impurities and you don't want that on your big day)

So, hands down, the Dr. Jart Rubber Mask in Bright Lover is my favorite favorite option for this! For me it has a noticeable and instantaneous affect. It not only helps brighten and even the skin tone, it helps with texture as well. This is exactly what I plan on using the night before my wedding. Maybe even the morning of too!

If you have delicate skin, I wouldn't try any mask the night before the wedding even if you've tried it before, just in case you get a random reaction. I'd just read what your skin needs the weeks prior, clay for acne, hydrating for dry skin, peel off mask for black heads. I'd try some now, maybe one a week, and see which ones you like. I personally don't like sheet masks because I don't feel like they do much. Other helpful things would be getting a toner and serum, and using the toner in the morning and serum at night. Then exfoliating once a week.

I will suggest you to use Clay Face Mask with Matcha Tea (preferably from “Ayana Wellness”). I also used it at the time of my wedding and it proved to be the best for my skin. It helps to remove dead skin cells from the outer layer of the skin. It is handmade clay mask and specially prepared with natural ingredients.

Avoid any sort of mask the week of the event. Whether it's new or an old favorite you risk some sort of reaction or break out.
