Best Beach Snorkeling Resort

Sammi, on May 13, 2015 at 8:06 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14

My fiance and I are wanting to honeymoon somewhere that we can walk out on the beach, into the water, and snorkel. We are basically wanting convenience and the option to snorkel for as long as we want, without having to take a boat out everyday. Does anybody have recommendations for all-inclusive resorts that have fantastic beach snorkeling? Thanks for your help!

Cancun and Riviera Maya are along the second largest coral reef in the world, so any resort on the coast would be ideal.

    Try somewhere in Belize!

Or...I went to St. Lucia on a cruise before. I would love to go back on a land vacation! We snorkeled near some resorts and it was amazing! If you look into it, look at resorts near the Pitons.

I had a really awesome time from Bahia Principe resort in the Mayan Riviera, but it was years ago so I'm not sure how the coral has fared. I've read that in general the coral reefs have been degrading over the last couple decades.

I've heard Belize might be good, my other thought is Andros Island (in the Bahamas). We went to Grenada for our honeymoon and the coral was mostly dead there Smiley sad Also, Hawaii might be another choice.

I'm following to see what others say!

I am going to cozumel,Mexico. when I was doing research I found that it was a big snorkeling/scuba diving destination but I don't know how true that is anymore and it will be my first time there in October.

You can find great all-inclusive places in Cozumel and Riviera Maya (Mexico) or pamper yourself with exotic destination like Fiji (Turtle Island or Koro Sun are all-inclusive resorts)!

If you wish to discuss more options and would like me to find you a great place for your honeymoon feel free to check my WW storefront and contact me. I am certified honeymoon and destination wedding specialist and will be glad to assist with your dream vacation.

FH I went to Roatan Honduras 2 years ago for a friends DW and it was BEAUTIFUL....the "rooms" are actually cabin style right on the beach....we were able to walk out of our door right onto the sand and about 50 feet from the beach (Lost Paradise Inn/Resort)

Its by no means the 4 Seasons and definitely homey and quaint (I think the week cost $550 or so), but we loved it...the island is small and you can walk to most of the bars/restaurants and for anything else its a cheap cab ride...we wen't swimming with dolphins, ziplining, booze cruise and snorkeling just about everyday. The second largest barrier reef in the world is RIGHT there and the area is a mecca for scuba divers and snorklers. Its not All inclusive, but everything is super cheap...not counting the room, FH and I probably spent a combined $500 with food, booze, excursions and souveniers....and we don't watch pennies on vacation.

Some photos I took just outside our cabin.... (the gazebo type thing that juts into the water is where our friend got married....the aisle was the walkway and that was layered with palm frawns and Birds Of Paradise...it was beautiful) and the other shows what the cabins looked like (ours was the one on the left and FH's best man with his PGF were in the one on the right)

I'm a wedding coordinator in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. @LadyMonk is correct about the degrading coral reefs, there are still lots of great places to snorkel in the USVI. And the best thing: No need for a passport!

Feel free to ask any questions. I'd be happy to help. : )

@ValDizzle (still can't get used to the name change!):

It really was awesome! I highly recommend to anyone! And for the price you seriously can't beat it. Here are a couple more:

-Me in the water in front of our cabin

-Me with part of the resort behind me

-Walked up a pier to take a photo of the resort...our cabin was at the very left of the property (you can see FH laying on the beach).
