Best destination with no passport

Missy, on April 21, 2017 at 6:05 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15

We are wanting somewhere tropical (besides Hawaii) for our honeymoon. Somewhere we can go on a few adventures but mainly just relax with a drink and soak up the sun. Problem is my fiance is unable to get a passport currently. It looks like my options are US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico. Has anyone been to both that could give me an idea of which to go with? Or any other options besides those?

The Florida Keys are also gorgeous! Or California. If you're in August, it will also be nice in North Carolina.

I haven't been to either place you have mentioned so I can't really say if they are nice or not.

We are going to st. Thomas for our honeymoon. You won't need a passport for any of the USVI. But if you wanted to go to any of the British VI you will want to have a passport so you can visit other islands easily. If your wedding isn't until 2018 you have time to get passports.

We are going to Puerto Rico. I've never been so I can't say how it is but I've heard nothing but amazing things from others who've lived there or visited.

Check out Vieques; it's a smaller island off the coast of Puerto Rico. The beaches are amazing and they have a crazy bioluminescent bay.

I second @bitbit check out Vieques off the coast of P.R. . There is also a short boat ride to Culebra Island which was rated one of the top 5 most beautiful beaches in the world at one time.

U.S. Virgin Islands is another option. Option 3: Passports are cheap and so is Mexico

I've never been, but have heard and seen beautiful things about Sanibel and Captiva Islands in FL. Also the keys.

I agree with @MrsNerd. My family used to go to Captiva a lot and that is where we are going for our honeymoon. I wouldn't consider it tropical but the beaches are great and it's very laid back. Oh, and there are also a lot of manatees there!! They are so fat and cute.

Florida Keys, Miami and Destin FL are beautiful options. So is Puerto Rico because they have the Bacardi Factory there and they give you 2 free drinks! And do you need a passport for a cruise? I've never been on a cruise but I'm not sure you need one to cruise (ie Caribbean) as I know they don't stamp it anyways. You should probably double check tho but a cruise is a great option.

You need a passport to cruise as of 2013, FYI
