Best diet supplement to jump start new routine?

vicky, on May 31, 2013 at 8:55 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 7

Yes, diet pills/supplements can be dangerous and of course there are so many healthy ways to lose weight & keep it off. I know this and I appreciate all who may want to yell at me for this post due to concern for my health. I just need a boost to jump start the weight loss because I can't seem to stick with the healthy route for more than a few days without getting disheartened. I promise I won't be overusing, abusing or using supplements for an extended time and I am at least 50 pounds over the healthy weight range for my height and muscle mass. The intention is to use something for 2-8 weeks (w/e the bottle says) in connection with a healthier lifestyle & then to continue without them. SO for those of you who have used pills/drops/supplements what do you suggest? What works the best? Any tips from real life experience?

(Not being a smart ass, at all.)

Water, lean protein, non-fatty nuts & seeds, fresh fruits & veggies.

That's the secret. You will literally melt fat off if you eat only those things.

NO processed food. NO added sugar. Little to no dairy.

There aren't any pills or supplements that will help you lose weight and the ones that might knock off a few pounds aren't good for you. I've read into a whole bunch of them and I've considered trying a bunch that I've seen on TV shows and such but when I run them by my pharmacist, he says they're garbage or downright dangerous.

I promise you - drink ONLY water - eat ONLY lean protein, fruits & veggies and you'll lose weight without trying. I dropped 40 pounds doing just that - no exercise AT ALL. But make sure you watch your portions with the protein - don't go crazy and eat half a cow Smiley winking

Thanks Katie. Lol I like ur don't eat half a cow comment cuz knowing me I think I could manage that. What you're talking about sounds like the paleo diet, is it? Idk if I could give up coffee or my crystal light. How did u manage sticking to water only?

Try bethel 30, they will cut your appetite which should help with portion control & a healthy diet & workout program.

While I am a strong supporter of a healthy diet as a means to weight loss, I have to admit I've been taking green coffee bean for awhile and it's helping me, and curbing my appetite. I stopped taking it for a bit and was ravenous again. Whether it's actually helping or it is all psychological, I'm not sure, but I like it either way. but i would make sure i get a reputable brand, not some random thing off the internet. green tea extract in pill form and a multivitamin/B-12 give me extra energy.

The only one I've heard that works, is Alli. The problem with it, is that you still have to watch how much fat intake you have, because it blocks the fat from being absorbed and you can get the runs from it.

What's helping me, is taking everything one day at a time, I've seriously struggled with food, but if I just log everything I eat, and try and make smart decisions, I just mark off on a calendar I made (which counts down to my wedding!) each day. I write how many steps I did that day (I always wear a fitbit), and I write how I honestly think how I did with food. Be it good, bad or just ok. It's honestly keeping me on track better than anything I've ever done.

Vicky: Yes! It is Paleo and it works wonders...

We've had some losses to our family over the last few months so we've had a lot of non-Paleo food in the house from the Wakes and I've put 5-10 pounds back on, depending on what day it is and what the gravitational pull of the moon is that day...LOL

BUT - Seriously, you can do it and I need to get my butt back in gear!

As far as the drinks go - I do allow myself coffee in moderation, and Amy is right, black coffee is completely fine until you add a bunch of junk to it. As far as the Crystal Light goes...I was completely hooked on that stuff for about 2 years - until I started experiencing unexplained bouts of hypoglycemia. My blood sugar dropped into the 50s on a few occasions, on days that I had eaten regular meals. So I spoke with my doctor and did some research and found that aspartame poisoning can cause low blood sugar, so I stopped drinking it completely and have only had maybe 2 times in the last 4 months. Smiley smile
