Hi Tricia!! The WeddingWire vendor directory has a lot of DJs in the Asheville area, but the directory also has this cool tool where you can narrow down results by price range. I looked through and it looks like there aren't any in the area that are under $500, but there are a couple under $1000 that might work for you! I'll link you to the results I found below.

I am going with Sheldon Nixon/Portland entertainment out of Charlotte. I am getting Married in Greensboro. I saw him an an event in Wilmington a few years back and then I went to a wedding this past November and he was the DJ/MC so I am going with him.
