Best invitation adhesive??

Kylene, on June 7, 2014 at 11:59 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

So, we are doing pocketfold invitations and are placing a backing and then the actual invitation into the middle pane of the folder.

Does anyone have recommendations on the best adhesive to use to put those three pieces together? I've heard from a friend that double-sided tape worked best for her but that it is expensive and goes pretty quickly. I know there are also those tape-glue dispensers, little sticky dots, etc.

Anyone use something that worked really well for them?

Zip dry works well. I'm doing pocketfolds as well, and I was going to use this but I decided just to let the company mat the invitations for me. I've used it in the past though.

I didn't use this for invitations but as an art major I used rubber cement for everything - it lasts forever and is inexpensive and it holds forever Smiley smile That's what I would use

Oooh I haven't used rubber cement since school! Great adhesive + a little bit of a high Smiley winking Seriously though, I used to use it for so many projects. i'll have to check it out!

@FutureMrsE - I thought about having the company do it, then didn't, and now have everything sitting on my table wishing that I had!

@Kylene....yea....I was like spend $4.99 on glue and have it probably all over my table and fingers (b/c I am clumsy that way lol) or just pay the $0.30 per invite and have them do it. The latter won haha.

Glue dots come in two types, removable and permanent. The permanent ones are best suited for layering papers together.

I used the permanent glue dots for my pocket fold invitations and those things are amazing, but they are a bit pricey. It was $5 for a box of 300 from Michaels, but it did save me the effort of plugging up my glue gun and running through my glue supply. Way less mess with the glue dots.

I used glue dots. Put one in each corner and had no issues. I did use a rolling dispenser one and it didn't hold as well.

I am doing pocketfolds and the woman who designed my invitations suggested Zip Dry. I have not touched my invites yet and plan to do so in July.

May I ask where you got your pocket folds/template from?

I used spray adhesive - you can get it for less than $10 at Home Depot/Ace Hardware. It's SO easy to use and you don't have to worry about things coming apart when your guests take the invitation out. I didn't use a pocketfold but attached my navy invitations to a larger piece of shimmery gold cardstock and they looked like a billion bucks Smiley winking
