That mixer is great IF you do a lot of baking. My FH uses ours mostly for pizza dough. I use it to make whipped cream. I often for get about the mixer and make cookies by hand (don't even use an egg beater). Some things I think everyone should have on their registry are sheets and towels (all kinds bath, hand, kitchen etc). I dont think you could ever have too many of either.

If you aren’t going to use it then it isn’t necessary, but as someone who bakes A LOT, I use my kitchenaid quite a bit and it’s super durable compared to other mixers out there.

Anything you don’t have that you feel you need for your house can be registered for- sheets, towels, kitchen stuff, outdoor home items. It’s all personal taste and preference. I would register at two to three places. Some ideas for that are Target, Amazon, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Macy’s, and Crate and Barrel.

I registered for it because I bake a lot, and right now all I have is a hand-held mixer which makes things kind of difficult. We have a super small registry, but we did register for new plates and bowls, a hostess set, serving trays and bowls, and new sheets. We're planning to move across the country when we get married so the last thing we want is a bunch of stuff to take with us - so we registered for upgrades only.

We used Zola because, for me, it was the easiest. Their website is super easy to navigate, and everything we wanted was on there.

I got it for Christmas one year for baking but also mashed potatoes! It’s definitely nice around the holidays, but you can also get attachments and do all sorts of things. If you put it on there, people can get affordable ones during sales at Costco, QVC, or after the holidays, etc.

I love my mixer, it was a godsend when I had to bake 300 cookies in one day! But if it's not something you'll use you can skip it. I'm registering for the attachments so I can use it for more than just baking

Like PP, I bake a lot. I bake my own bread, cookies, and various other things, so that mixer would be amazing. I use my moms old kitchen aid, it’s like 10yrs old. FH suggested I register for a new one but I didn’t want to seem greedy.... now reading this post.(apparently that's what some think of those that register for one).. wow.... why are you judging what people are registering for? Why create a post just to down them.... if you don’t want one, don’t register for one, but who cares if someone else does...🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I almost registered for the pasta attachment... which is $200, because we eat pasta fairly often.. Is that greedy, should I remove it?

Most people include mostly kitchen items. Relatively few single women have good pots and pans or matching china with serving pieces (and enough of it to host a big family event.)
In the kitchen I'm most excited for cutting boards. Two sets, one wood and one plastic with the largest in each large enough to out a turkey on. I'm the exception to the rule, though. My dishes match, I have wonderful pans and great serving pieces.
People often think of towels and sheets but I'm thinking about a memory foam mattress topper and new curtains.
We're registering at BB&B, REI (we could use new sleeping bags) and, possibly, William Sonoma.

We did not register for a Kitchenaid. It would be a waste of someone’s money because neither of us bakes. We didn’t register for any overly expensive items. I think the priciest single item is about $180.

If you don't think the mixer is necessary, don't register for it... simple as that.

A lot of people register for upgrades to their plates, sheets, and towels, so they have matching items. We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Amazon.

I don't think it's greedy to have it on there. As long as you have other lower priced items for people to purchase if they want, I don't think it's a big deal to have more expensive items.

Part of the reason we included stuff on the registry is for the discount after the wedding if people don't buy them.

No, most people who put it on their registry do so because they'll actually use it. The list price might seem high to you, but to many it isn't that much of a splurge for a wedding gift. My mother bought my daughter one, and I've known bridal parties to chip in together to buy one.

I say put whatever you want on there! If you want a fancy Kitchen-Aid mixer then register for it! If you don't want one, then don't register for it. My only advice is to register for things at different price points. That way people have options depending on what they're willing/able to spend.

And I'm just saying nobody is going to judge you for wanting a $400 kitchen gadet but if all your presents are that expensive, then they will judge you.. a lot.

I got my Kitchenaid over ten years ago as a gift. One of my grandmothers gives every grandchild one. I love it and will probably never have to buy another mixer in my life. So, yes, it appears to be expensive, but over the years, it's one of the cheapest kitchen appliances anyone will ever have. Plus, it does more than mixes.

If you don't want it on your registry, don't have it. Just don't denigrate those that do.

Just because you register for something that is $400 doesn't mean the person who got it for you spent that much money on it. Some of your guests may be awesome at discounts and sales or even have an in at some stores. So, if there is something you truly want, register for it. Some stores even allow group gifting, so a group of guests could chip in for the standing mixer.

I love to bake and 100% think it's worth it. My mom actually got me one for Christmas a few years ago, so it's not on my registry. But I love it and use it all the time and it's magical. I just had my bridal shower and am amazed at how excited I am for silverware of all things. Le Creuset cookware, also super excited for my plates, sharp knives (both to cook with and steak knives to eat with), copper cups for moscow mules were a big hit. A friend bought them and when I opened them two other friends were like "I wanted to get those and were bummed someone already bought them!" A fireproof safe for all our important documents. I was also super excited when I got a 12 muffin tin (my current one is 6) and ramekins (see....I like to bake). I think the stuff I appreciate the most is the cheaper kitchen items that I just didn't have for some reason. Oh and also an instapot.

    Now I want a T-Rex cookie jar...

P.S. We put a king size mattress on ours just for the discount after the wedding and plan to buy it ourselves. Luckily on Macy's the picture doesn't show up and it's weird, so I don't think many people will see it. I can't imagine anyone actually thinks we expect them to buy it for us.

If you would use a KitchenAid stand mixer, then I don't see any reason why it can't be on your registry. I love to bake, and have always loved my hand mixer, but I've always had my eye on the stand mixer. Now that we have one, I can say that it's so different from using a hand mixer. It blends ingredients so much faster and it's so convenient to set it, walk away and prep something else, then come back and have the job done. We don't even have and of the extra attachments and we also have found it's great for non-baking tasks, too, like whipping mashed potatoes quickly or mixing up a batch of maple butter. It's probably our most heavily used kitchen appliance.

It's okay to put a couple of more expensive items on your registry if it's something you want or need for your home. Most of your registry should be items under $50 and under $100, but a few options that are more expensive are okay. Sometimes people will surprise you with a very generous gift, and sometimes people choose to go in on a group gift and get you one of the more expensive items on your registry. Also, after your wedding date, most stores offer you a completion discount so you can buy some of the remaining items on your registry that you still want at a discounted price. That's actually what we did to get our KitchenAid. We had a very generous gift card to BBB from someone and we put it towards buying the KitchenAid after the wedding at the lower price.

At the end of the day, a registry is a list of things for your home that you either need, want, or would like to upgrade. If there's something you already have, or you don't want, then don't register for it. I already had a toaster and DH already had a toaster oven. Obviously, we did not want more toasters, so we just didn't register for any.

Literally the day after we got engaged, an aunt and grandma got us a kitchenaid mixer. We didn't really have the choice lol. But it'll have a lot of use once we get a house and I have room to use it.

The mixer is great if you actually use it, but it's not a must on the registry. A lot of people receive one and it just sits on a shelf. Register for what you want and need! No need to add popular items if you don't want them.

As for registries, Amazon is great because it has everything. Target, Wal-Mart, Zola, bed bath & beyond, and I think even Costco are popular.

Same, we registered for calphalon pan set, just for the discount after wards. We don’t expect anyone to spend $200 on pans. Almost everything else is $100. The discounts are what we’re waiting for lol.

I have a Kitchen Aid mixer on mine, but I bake a lot. I don't think it seems greedy, unless your entire registry is made up of $300+ items. The mixer is one of two items on ours that is over $300, everything else is pretty much $100 or less.
