Best month for an outdoor Florida wedding?

Lauren, on July 4, 2020 at 9:32 AM Posted in Florida Planning 0 4
Hi!

We have decided to push our 10-10-2020 date back due to the current conditions with covid here in FL (we have a 200 person guest count) We are getting married @ The Ringling in Sarasota and both our ceremony and reception is outdoors. The venue is on the water so there is typically a nice breeze! 🤞🏻 Would LOVE your opinion on picking our new date. October 30th 2021 (Saturday) or March 19th 2021?? Both are super popular months here for weddings! Hoping for slightly cooler / dryer weather! 🤍

Hi! We’re getting married at the Sarasota Yacht Club! We postponed from April 4th, 2020 to February 20th, 2021.

Weather wise, I’d say both are about equal however October you run the risk of still being in hurricane season. With that being said, March is prime spring break season- lodging and travel will be at peak prices. You’ll also want to consider the sunset times- the sun sets an hour earlier in October than it does in March.
With Florida being a COVID hotspot, we have started to worry about February. If you’re willing to wait another year, October might offer you more peace of mind.

Weather wise, February or early March are usually nice. October is still hurricane season and tends to still be very humid. But I agree that next spring is just around the corner from all this pandemic craziness. Our wedding is also outdoors & scheduled for early March and I'm just hoping we don't have to postpone. If covid wasn't an issue, I'd say go with early spring, tends to be nicer weather (more comfortable for guests) than fall. Good luck to you!

I would look up the average weather for in your area for that time of year. I wish we would have done that for our wedding. We got married in July and it was disgustingly hot as it was the hottest day of 2019. After the wedding, I Googled the weather for that area for that date and found that our wedding date is on average the hottest day of the year every year for that area.

I think the weather might be slightly better in March than October (less rainy & muggy) - but I’d check local weather sources on past average temperatures and weather patterns. I’d also see if there’s a price difference, because like Marie said - March is prime spring break travel time!
