Best option for wedding insurance?

Felicia, on January 2, 2021 at 3:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Can anyone recommend the best option for wedding insurance? Is it best to get a policy online, contact my own insurance company etc, or is it all the same?

Just like with any insurance, shop around. I would contact a few providers, see what they cover/charge, and choose the plan that is best for you.

I think a lot of times, people get coverage through their Homeowners or Renters policy, so I would start there. If that isn’t an option, two other options are WedSure and WedSafe. We purchased a policy through WedSure online, and the process was fairly simple and let us tailor the policy to only what coverage we wanted.

Thank you Stacey. I thought of contacting our homeowners insurance company, but wasn't sure if I could find something online that was simple. I will take a look at WedSafe. They were on the top 7 best list.

I got a quote from jewelers mutual when I got engaged, but our homeowners had a better offer. Shop around!

I just went with WedSafe, they were very simple and easy to use, and you get it fast and it's pretty cheap. I think I only paid like $200 for mine, so it was worth it.

Aha! Great idea. Our wedding rings are insured with jewelers mutual. I'm also checking with our homeowners insurance tomorrow. Thank you so much.

I'm a little late to this discussion but I would definitely advise AGAINST WedSure - I just went through the wringer with them on our event cancellation policy. Our wedding was supposed to be in Sonoma California last year but got rescheduled to this year due to covid - Sonoma county is still highly restricting weddings so we had to cancel. WedSure (and likely others) has their policy written very tight for the benefit of the insurance company to the point that they cited 6+ clauses that they used to justify not covering the cancellation. It would likely be a very rare occasion that you have a cancellation that they haven't protected themselves against having to pay out for.
