Best Places to Buy Wedding Invitations

Kayla, on January 16, 2018 at 5:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 32

To those who have already found theirs, what are your suggestions for affordable places to get your wedding invitations from? I'm not opposed to kits where you can DIY either.

My colors are navy and light grey.

I got all my paper products through minted and was very happy with everything.

I bought my invitations waaaaay early when Wedding Paper Divas was an independent company. They are now part of Shutterfly, which has very reasonable prices. I ordered my save the dates from Minted and personally like their designs and quality better than most other invitation companies. They don’t discount as much as Shutterfly, Vistaprint, and Zazzle do during sales, but I think they are worth it.

I'm getting my stationary from Vistaprint. I also played around with the customization of invitations on Basic Invite. I've never ordered from Basic Invite.

I used a kit from JoAnn. 50% off coupon for a total of $12. They were not high on my list and I didn’t mind the DIY.

Vistaprint is inexpensive, and if you don’t like any of their styles, you could always buy a template off of Etsy and simply have it printed through Vistaprint, Staples, etc. You can also buy invitation kits at hobby/craft stores like Joann, Michaels and Hobby Lobby and use a coupon to buy them one pack at a time. I think they regularly retail around $20 per box, not sure how many invitations are included per box. We got ours through Minted, which was a bit more expensive, but I love paper goods and for us, it was money well spent.

I got mine through Minted. I ordered a sample kit and was much happier with their quality and patterns than other sites. They are more expensive than other sites, however, and probably for that exact reason.

Places like Vistaprint, Zazzle, and Shutterfly are always running promotions that can get you up to 50% off. You can also get Groupons occasionally for those sites. People here have gotten great deals on their whole suites for ~$1/suite. You can also purchase a downloadable template you like from Etsy and have it printed via Vistaprint or Kinkos if you don't like their exact patterns.

If you are looking for the most cost effective options available, and aren't prioritizing the invites beyond "get the job done", then I'd consider the DIY route. Most craft stores like Joanns and Michaels, and even Amazon, sell kits that you can print at home. You could get something like this which is $17.99 for 25 suites and apply a coupon (they often do 40% off a full price item). http://www.michaels.com/gartner-studios-silver-glitter-invitation/D026494S.html#q=invitations&start=3

If you are going to do DIY, I would recommend cardsandpocket.com. I designed with a template from Etsy ($9) and got exactly what I wanted printed for invitations and RSVP cards (115 set), envelops (inner and outer), gate pockets, monograms (also customized), mats and belly-bands for $350. Good Luck!

I’m using Zazzle.com just waiting on 50% off I’ve heard they do that sale often. It seems like they run every sale since I signed up except invitations lol.

I’m struggling with this same thing! Decisions are hard for me! I’m okay with the kits from places, I THINK, but does that mean it’s going to be very DIY? Or just insert info and print?

    Sorry! I’m clueless!

I like both Vistaprint and Shutterfly. I bought my std’s from vistaprint during a sale and they came out perfect. I bought my invitations from Shutterfly during a sale and I’m very happy with them as well!

Really depends on how fancy you want to get. We wanted simple. (Sorry for two pics but it wouldn’t show whole invite). Created in word. Graphic was adjusted to match our colors with the butterflies. That was the hardest part. I loved the fact that we could carry the graphic and fonts throughout on our wedding signs. They make the kits pretty user friendly.

Minted. I like their paper a lot better than Vistaprint. They are not as nice as engraved invitations, but I don't run in social circles that would expect one.
