For your reception, have you thought about looking into some local restaurants with a private dining area? With food included, you may get a good deal.

You could also look at some local community halls that rent the space out for events. This would involve hiring an external caterer but the actual premises may be cheaper.

For example: The venue we are having the wedding at has in house catering and they estimate $37 per person for food. The only thing is there’s a $3,700 minimum so with a 50-60 person guest list you’re actually paying $62 per person (for 60 people) along with the 8% sales tax and 19% service charge. That’s in addition to the $500-$1,500 Room fee. Restaurants we have looked at (the good ones) want $60 per person, but no room fee.

We are definitely looking every day throughout the day to get the reception nailed down.
