Funny thing, I never eat cake at a wedding. Not really sure why either. I don’t even try it. I like sweets but idk just never had it. I doubt I have any at my own wedding. As far as food some of the best I’ve had was definitely bbq, salmon and fried chicken. Some of the worse, Id say was the last wedding, the food wasn’t terrible but it was cold. They had a taco bar as well as party wings but it wasn’t edible. Another wedding that was the worst would have to be grilled chicken, it was unseasoned and tasted like it was under cooked.

Most of the weddings I've been to have had bad food. One didn't even serve the cake. The couple doesn't know what happened to it. The worst food is probably the BBQ buffet, but I've been to a wedding where no one ate because everything spoiled before the ceremony ended.

Best- Squab, salmon, oysters, macrons, sheet cake from Giant Eagle. IDK there's just something about grocery store cakes. You know what you're getting and it's universally appealing.

Worst- Potluck mishmash of homemade food that wasn't cohesive.

One of the weddings we went to last year had a huge pretty fancy buffet - prime rib, crab legs, etc. my fiancé sure loved it! I didn’t eat much but what I did eat was good. Their cake was white (maybe classic wedding actually?) and chocolate, nothing crazy but it was good. I love cake so I definitely did eat that!

The worst was a poor Mexican food buffet … the street corn was not good and the nachos were very basic (plastic cheese). The quesadilla station however was good, but overall the options were very limited and not very well done. That couple didn’t even have a cake! No desserts at all. I understand some folks don’t like cake, and it was clear they were on a tight budget, but I would have been happy with some mini candies in a bowl as some kind of dessert offering. Maybe it’s just me but I expect something sweet at a wedding/banquet/event dinner, so nothing at all was disappointing.

Best: one wedding had the best mashed potatoes. I'm not even a huge fan of mashed potatoes, but something about these has me thinking about them four years later. Another wedding had tiny little cheesecake squares for dessert. I'm like a poster above where I don't eat the dessert and it's usually because I feel full faster when I'm dressed up, and simply don't have room for a big slice of cake. The little cheesecake squares were a perfect two-bite dessert and there was enough to grab more if a guest wanted more.

Worst: one wedding had the most flavorless meat (chicken and ham) I'd ever had. This was a month after the godly mashed potato wedding, but the mashed potatoes in comparison at this wedding were *just* potatoes. I'm not sure butter was even added. The whole meal was served on Styrofoam lunch trays, and the food was indecipherable from the Styrofoam. Another worst was instead of cake, the couple had cupcakes. These cupcakes were HUGE, the size of my face. Even splitting one with my husband was too much cake.
Writing this out, I think I'm a mashed potato/ cake size elitist, lol

This is an interesting one, best food I don't know if I really have a best , I tend to enjoy the cocktail hour food the most at a wedding. I hate say this but my best friends wedding was actually the worst food, I think what made it even worse is her hubby is known as being such a huge foodie so everyone just expected the food to be amazing. Now to be fair I was in this wedding so I may have missed it but by the time we made It to the cocktail hour there was no food out, I m told it was mostly fruit and cheese plates Once dinner came the salads were just a plate of lettuce with no dressing. The table asked for dressing and we were told there was none. The pasta had no sauce on it, it was just plain penne on a plate with a few pieces of random carrots on there. The actual main courses were ice cold, I had a lamb chop and it was pretty much all bone and fat. I don't remember what flavor the cake was but I think I had like 3 slices of it not because it was great but because I was famished hahaha. The saving grace was a big Venetian hour people were starving so lots of sweets were eaten Their wedding was an absolute blast but the food left everyone pretty puzzled. We had a big ole pizza party at the hotel when all was said and done.

I like all cake, but my groom was too particular so we opted for a non-cake option. My favorite memory is my sister's with marscapone aka connoli creme filling.

I've never had bad wedding food. A steak is a steak.

I opted for a vegetarian meal at my friend's wedding and it was AWFUL like the bride and groom tried it off my plate and they said it was nasty

I have really fond memories of finger sandwich and cake receptions in the church fellowship hall after a wedding. The chicken salad, pimento cheese, and egg salad sandwiches (on white bread Smiley smile were always homemade and delicious. The butter mints and cake were usually made by someone's grandmother. I loved it all. I was well into my adulthood before I attended a wedding that had a sit down meal reception which wasn't in the church basement. I'm always fascinated with the food that's served at a reception and I can't say that I've ever had anything truly bad. I love wedding cake of almost any variety except for almond. I think it's a texture/density issue as opposed to the flavor. I have a strong dislike for fondant. I do not find it delicious and having to peel it off my cake always makes me go 'hmm, interesting' and then I feel a little sad that it's just laying there on the plate by itself. I can't remember what any of the beautiful wedding cakes I've eaten look like - except for my own and my daughter's Smiley smile

I've never had really terrible food at a wedding, but I will say, I went to a very expensive wedding last year, like I looked up at the venue's website after I got engaged and saw the menu and prices. It was a perfectly fine meal, nothing bad, nothing amazing. But the cost per plate to me did NOT equate. And the price didn't include cocktail hour, the alcohol, or the venue - it was just the meal.

We just did our tasting the other night for our wedding, and actually made choices based on the fact that some choices are way too hard to make everyone happy with. We opted not to go with a filet as our beef choice for this reason. For large catered events they just cook it all to the same temperature, whereas everyone likes them different (I'm a blue rare girl, my mother in law is a medium-well person). I've not enjoyed the meals that were "family style", and any menu where all the options were an allergy scare weren't fun either.

Call me a snob (someone here did!) but omg I hate barbeque as the only meal choice. I truly cannot eat it. Best wedding food was prime rib. Second best was a cold seafood apoeruzer bar. I'm not a big fan of wedding cake - we'll have it because my matron of honor won't be in the wedding unless we have it LOLOL. We are doing a dessert table along with the cake.

I've been to a couple of weddings with phenomenal food -- steaks, huge shrimp, etc. -- YUM! The worst was when I cut into my chicken and it was completely raw.... Once I saw that, I didn't eat anything on the plate -- it had all potentially been contaminated by the very undercooked chicken.... Smiley sad That wedding was kind of a hot mess overall though.

The best was a 9 course tasting menu at a gastronomic restaurant... The worst was a homemade buffet with none left of or to the guests of the last tables to be invited to be served!
