Best way to get wrinkle out of Satin table covers

Rosa, on March 28, 2018 at 11:19 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

Hi, so I just recently bought satin table covers from another bride that used them previously, the table covers are clean, but are wrinkled. Taking them to the dry cleaners to press is super expensive for my budget. Any tips or ideas on how I can do this myself without ruining the table cloth? Thanks in advance!

Do you have a garment steamer? I'd try that, it's a bit more gentle than an iron. Did they come with any care instructions, or does the company from where you bought them offer any?

I do not have a garment steamer, are they very expensive? I have yet to pick them up to look at the care instructions, she advertised them as being satin, but I am not sure if it's actual satin or satin polyester blend?

She said she bought them used from another bride....

OP I'd literally just google "what's the best way to iron satin?". Maybe put a towel down on top of the tablecloth before you iron them.

There's a pretty wide price range, some can be hundreds but some can be as cheap a $20. My sister has a fairly inexpensive one and she uses it pretty often so it was a good investment for her.

Hopefully they still have a tag on them with their material composition and/or care instructions, or the other bride can let you know where she got them originally so you can track them down that way!

I'd steam them, then fold in thirds (or half) and roll to keep them as crease free as possible until the day-of. Steaming will be tedious and time consuming (as will ironing) so you'll want to limit the repeat performances!

If you iron them, do it on the backside on a low temperature.
